Actualy the Mamluks were Turkic in origin and the Ilkhanate Empire ruling Persia was Mongolic-Turkic
Yup ~ even today Sunni tribes in the part of Persia called Iraq look a lot like their turkic ancestors! Saddam Hussein certainly did!
