While Mitt hunkers down with Rob Portman preparing for the Big Debate #1, the finest minds of the conservative blogosphere are explicating the themes that could win the debate for him, narratives that go to the heart of what is wrong with Obama's tenure in office.
Daniel P. Goldman, who also writes under the pen name Spengler, has explained in clear language the Obama sand in the gears that cripples our economy. He uses an excellent rhetorical device to do so, positing three groups of Americans
From PJ Media:
Our first case is one of five million Americans unemployed for more than 27 weeks:
A second American is part owner of a $20 trillion investment fund.
A third American is terrified that her pension fund will go bust (as the Illinois teachers' fund will some time during the next ten years, among many others).
He explains that American #2 won't invest in companies that would hire #1. The problem is that Americans are no longer investing in each other. It is the pension funds and other vehicles for retirement savings which dominate capital markets, and right now they only invest in safe instruments, low-yielding but less risky securities. The reasons are pretty clear:
We have the highest corporate tax rate in the world.
We have an administration that sandbagged one of the biggest contributions to energy independence to become available in decades, namely the Keystone project.
We have a regulatory environment that makes it next to impossible to build a nuclear power plant.
We have a health care program that puts the biggest weight of a new entitlement program right on the economy's weak spot - firms with fifty workers.
We have an administration that can't get its act together to steer the economy away from a fiscal cliff.

I’m sure that Obama will thank all the useful idiots out there by taking more freedoms and giving more free stuff.

At least with Romney...and a Congress We the People force to answer to us, have a HOPE of Constitutional Restoration through the ballot box.
The ideological selfishness many display has a very real potential for rendering such Constitutional Restoration only through the cartridge box.....thereby depriving their countrymen of HOPE and POSSIBILITY.
If it does come to the cartridge box...each and every one of us posting here..may well already have their name on a list for the midnight knock ....with which Obama will attempt to precede the inevitable.
Ya haf to understand the Dems see politics as a broken-bottle, knife and gun, bar-room brawl...in other words war for survival...
In the words of one helluva an American
As you know, you go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want or wish to have at a later time.
Donald Rumsfeld
On the battlefield...nobody is standing around quoting ideology.
I may not agree much with Romney ....but unlike Obama, he DOES have the executive skills and experience to get the job done.
I sure do wish itd been Palin , however..

Maybe your vote isn’t but mine certainly is. At least you’re voting your “principles” and not “principals” like many others here.
Sorry. I thought I was on a conservative site.

Great theory.
In theory, theory and practice are the same, in practice, they aren't.
How's that theory stuff working out with the pubbie house? Arrests made with Fast and Furious? Indictments? Special Counsel? Anything?
Blocking NPR funding? No?
Shutting down the EPA? Slowing them down? Slowing down their rate of growth? No?
Didn't think so.

Good thread! Thanks!
________
HEY Romney! If you are going to lead, then LEAD!
The best you can do with the fence-sitting Undecideds and Independents is to win half of them!
As you said in May: “- - - don’t worry about them.”
Lead the BASE!
It is all about THE BASE!

I think we can all agree that if Roms had listened to and stayed truer to the blogosphere, instead of paid consultants and pollsters, he would be doing much better. We all know that the conservative blogosphere really taps into the ideas behind the true american conservatism that this country needs.
You replied The United States Government borrowed military equipment, including cannons, from civilians during the Revolution.
Well, civilians can still own and operate those old cannon.
You wrote: US civilians sent rifles and shotguns to England during WWII (later dumped in the north sea).
What prevents you from disassembling an old shotgun, packaging it up and shipping it to someone in England?
You wrote: Yeah.. every terrible instrument of war belongs to the individual.
So you are just fine knowing that your hard partying neighbors who heat their home with space heaters are allowed to purchase and store any type munition in their townhouse next to you?
You wrote:As far as your first point... You explain to God how aborting a baby is a GoodThing(tm).
My understanding is that most pregnancies naturally abort. Of the problem pregnancies such as a deformed child that are brought to term, the bible doesn't directly address the topic but it's safe to say that in biblical times, they didn't live very long.
You wrote: You really reached.
Such reaching is necessary given the chasm that separates us.
You wrote: I suppose you think abortion is ok, the 2nd amendment is negotiable, socialized medicine is fine, and government should control everything...
Assuming you are being honest and forthright, you've never voted, not even for Reagan.
My one piece of advice for Romney is to not let Obama get away with diversion discussion. If Obama tries this ploy Romney should without hesitation call him out. You can bet that Obama will try to control the course of a debate with smart alec remarks.
Mitt should just ask him if he can say “Mohammed” without the prefix “the prophet”. He can’t. End of debate.

I want Mitt to say: It shall be the policy of my administration not to reward bad behavior.
Assuming you are being honest and forthright, you have either never voted because no candidate has ever met your standard of ideological purity, or you used to vote but stopped doing so for one reason or another.
Perhaps you joined some religious group that doesn't believe in voting but can't quite bring yourself to disclosing that to us.

"Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man gainst his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American...[T]he unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people."
Tenche Coxe, The Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788.

No baby killing, that's right out.
We keep our guns.
No socialized medicine.
Keep government small.
That's pretty small beans on purity, Flight Service Officer.
