PRAYER FOR THE ELECTION

40 Days of Prayer is a call to fervent prayer for our elections. We are in desperate days as a nation as the spiritual, moral and financial fabric of our nation is disintegrating around us. America's National Prayer Committee and its member organizations are putting out a call to pray 40 days prior to the elections (September 28 - November 6).

2 Chronicles 7:14 ~ If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

PSALM 37

12 The wicked plot against the righteous
and gnash their teeth at them;
13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for he knows their day is coming.
14 The wicked draw the sword
and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy,
to slay those whose ways are upright.
15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts,
and their bows will be broken.
16 Better the little that the righteous have
than the wealth of many wicked;
17 for the power of the wicked will be broken,
but the LORD upholds the righteous.

O Lord, forgive me ... forgive us ... sweep away this evil that is upon us ... glorify your name among the people, O Lord ...

Dear Lord & Heavenly Father,
We come to You today with hearts that are sad for what our nation has become. We have had all of the privileges that one could imagine and rather than be thankful for Your gifts, we have become haughty and careless and even belligerent at times towards You, Your law, and Your will.

Blatantly evil things are occurring in our land and we allow them to go on. Most of us don’t know what we as individual citizens can really do, so we push the evil in our society to the sides of our minds and go on with life as usual. Many times we don’t even pray, even though truly, prayer is our lifeline.

So here we are at a phase in the life of our nation where it appears we could very well lose the republic, and it scares us. We are faced with a choice of voting for one of two evils with one being so bad that we know it will spell certain disaster if he is elected again; and yet, we have serious misgivings about the other and were this any other election many of us would not be voting for him - but we must - knowing that if You could control the heart of Nebuchadnezzar, You could control the heart of either one of these men.

As Proverbs 21 says “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.”

So Lord, we pray this - that whoever gets elected - that You would have Your way in their heart and that You would quicken their heart towards You, that they would do Your will, that they would follow Your principles and that they would confound our enemy - that the Republic might be saved and that Your name may once again be praised in our land.

Father, our nation is in trouble. And the evil in the land is so great that there is no obligation whatsoever that You have towards us to turn the ship of state around. But we ask that You would. By grace. We know it is wholly of grace Revive our land. Heal it. Restore it. And make it a beacon of light and of the gospel once again.

Father, we would that Mitt Romney would be elected; but, if in Your omniscience You know that the greater glory and greater good would come if Barack Obama were reelected, then we submit to Your will. Unless You intervene, that would most certainly spell ruin to the nation. But maybe it needs to lose its status in order to learn to be thankful again. I pray there is some other way. I pray Lord, that we can turn to You without having to lose it all. I pray Lord that the most honorable of the two men would win and that He would follow You for the sake of the nation.

Lord, I thank You for Your work in my own life and I ask that if there is any way You want me to become more involved in the political sphere, that You would open the doors that You want me to walk through.

I ask that You forgive my personal sins and those of my nation - for their are very grievous.

Help us Lord, though we are undeserving. And restore this nation to its status as one nation under God. We were dedicated to You once. May we be so again

And it is in Jesus’ precious and holy name that I pray these things,

83 O God, do not keep silence;

do not hold your peace or be still, O God!

I would suggest contributing money to a candidate of your choice as a more effective means of effecting desirable results.

You know most Christians, me included can walk and chew gum at the same time. We can pray and give money. I think this election with the array of demonic forces against us, we need the Lord more than ever. If TV ads would do it as you allude to in your money reference we would feel much more confident. There is a sticky, gummy web of lies and evil cloaking this President in the form of the earthly, and supernatural. Ephesians 6 type stuff. I really do think a powerful demon got ahold our president at a young age , with the trauma of his abandonment and his sexual abuse. President Obama needs prayer, deliverance and a good dose of plain humility in the form of losing his job. No one here wishes his bodily harm, we hope and pray he becomes a wonderful story of redemption. He needs that to become a true man of God, a good husband and great Father. Right now he is lost and has given over to his sin nature and doing it with impunity.

Ephesians 6:10-13

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

2 Timothy 2:24-26

24 And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.

25 Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth,

26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

Open the eyes of those who cannot see, O Lord, that they might know the evil that is upon us. Break the stronghold of the media, that the floodgates of truth might be opened. Let us not go deeper into the night but bring us into the Sonlight of day. In the Name of Jesus, Amen ...
