Sounds like some city needs a big dose of forced busing.

The exam doesn’t see color, it sees the results of the test and if they were that great there would be 20% of them in there instead of the 1% they complain about.

This is another attempt to diplace hard working qualified kids in the name of racism.

you bet. it has to be unfair because the exam actually tests knowledge of useful things such as mathematics and ENglish and history. If only the exam asked about their Swahili names and Kwanzaa and how to sneak across a border so many more blacks and latinos (whatever the hell that is) would be admitted.

A school for smart kids so they won’t get dragged down to the lowest common denominator is a good idea.

As long as the teachers are smart too.

Stuyvesant is, what, about 80% Asian? I went to a football game there a few weeks ago. 95% of their cheerleaders were Asian.

If you can’t pass the exam then you don’t belong in the school. They can’t dumb everything down just so you feel included a-holes.

I presume that all these unfairly-rejected black students have performed wonderfully at the second-choice schools where they ended up, huh?

The Obama admin is using similar legal theories in housing and employment “discrimination” cases - it’s called “disparate impact” theory; meaning the policy is wrong NOT because anyone was directly, intentionally discriminated against, but simply because it does not produce “demographically diverse results”.

In other words “anti-discrimination policies” must not merely oppose discrimination, they may in fact need to discriminate in order to produce “non-discriminatory results” in the “demographic dispersement” of “equal justice”.

This leads to a perpetually balkanized society where “rights” and “economic justice” are group rights more than individual rights and where some individuals may in fact be discriminated against in order that each demograhic group receives “their fair share”. Just think of the politics of Lebanon.

I have 9 words:

Can't Pass The Test, Can't Get In. Tough Sh*t.

Life is a bitch, especially when all the baby-daddies take off and leave mom to work to feed those babies.

So Asians are admitted at a rate 10x their “proportion” and that too makes the process “unfair”

I mean, it’s gotta be.....doesn’t the NCAA know Asians dominate urban boards of education? They just have to be writing the admissions rules to “favor their own”

What about the Elder Principle? Larry Elder once went to the Main Library in downtown Los Angeles, where self-segregation was pointed and visible: outside the building, on the plaza and steps, were black kids, breakdancing to the latest rap. Inside we’re Asian kids, reading and studying. Nothing else need be said.

“The NAACP doesn’t specify how the test discriminates against blacks and Latinos”

Of course they don’t. The burden is always on the accused to prove they aren’t racist, not on the accuser to prove they are.

Heaven help us if this kind of thinking ever makes its way into the courts.

In a blistering document delivered to the feds Thursday morning, the NAACP accused the city of barring black and Latino students from eight of its “best public schools,” including Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan, where only 1% of students are black.

I have an idea for the NAACP -- why don't they just ask the 1% who did get accepted into these schools what they did to get in? Then take this information, analyze it, pass it on to future applicants.

Or is the NAACP afraid of what they may hear as the reasons why those in the 1% got accepted (hard work and study, intact families, just plain smarts, you know...)

The NAACP believes the grueling exam is unfair to black and Latino students because they are denied admission “at rates far higher than other racial groups.”

Oh my goodness. Is it racism, or is it just, that as a group, they aren't smart enough? Or is it racism to even posit such a question?

This isn't the 1950s, minorities have been handed preferential concessions since 1964. If blacks still aren't capable of competing with other groups on an equal basis, maybe it's time to admit some uncomfortable facts.

At the small company that I work for, I am the Tier 2 Tech and one of the Network Administrators. I had the recent unfortunate experience of having to do some of the interviews for an entry level phone support technicians.

There was one black male that came in and he brought his father. This person was 22 years old. I inquired as to why he insisted that his father sit in on the interview, his answer was that he could not read or write and he needed his father to fill out the application for him. Not only that, he could not speak 2 sentences in a row without dropping back in Ebonics.

I informed him that he did not qualify for the position in any fashion and that the interview was over. He threatened to sue me and the company for discrimination and false adverting in the job posting.

It seems that he took it that the line in the advertisement that stated "Will provide on the job training" to be that we would teach him to read and write. He was promptly shown the door all the while screaming Racism.

I put the blame on the liberal public school officials that have deemed it inappropriate to give anyone a failing grade because they might feel bad. The students who get that treatment are always shocked to find out that businesses do not care about their feelings, only if they can do the job.
