During his first run for president, Barack Obama made one very specific promise to voters: He would cut health insurance premiums for families by $2,500, and do so in his first term.
But it turns out that family premiums have increased by more than $3,000 since Obama's vow, according to the latest annual Kaiser Family Foundation employee health benefits survey. [snip]
And ObamaCare will continue to fuel health premium inflation.

HIP plans to raise rates by 40%.
I’m a gov’t employee. Next month, the 2013 cost for health care plans will come out. Last time....it was roughly a four-percent increase over the previous year, and I’m expecting at least five-percent this year. This “cut” that the President chatted about....just ain’t there. I don’t know where the “cut” is supposed to be, but it’s not realistic and I doubt if it ever was realistic.
They all knew NONE of this was to come out before 2013, until after the Annointed One was re-elected. How dare they!
Perhaps they became resentful of all the waivers Obamacare has given unions, cities and specially favored friends of Obama, and they are looking for their pre-election dispensation. How dare they!
Given all this, and if Obama gets re-elected, he and the moocher can engineer a berth for Chicago and the Olympics where we, too, can have an opening ceremony that has to trump up National Health Care, replete with bedpans and old hospital beds that have witnessed the dying of old people too fargone to treat economically.
Obama lies. It’s his native tongue. Anyone who believed that the creation of massive layers of bureaucracy and legislation and mandates with their requisite enforcer goons was going to make costs go down is dumber than a box of Obama bumper stickers.
Oh the obamacare lovers don’t think [of those pesky details]. It’s just supposed to be free healthcare from the Obama money tree.
Obama is counting on the votes from people who have rejected and are downright antagonistic toward reality. That’s quite a broad base of support.
Yes but they WOULD have been $5,200 if wasnt for O, but they only went up $3,000 under his policies so he still saved you $2,500.
See how easy it is ?? :)
Lets talk about unemployment....LOL
4% is nothing! Try 45% for my wife and I on a company work BCBS plan with no other changes this year!!
Eventually, after they've ‘herded’ all the ‘providers’ into these hospital systems, they'll slash payments to the hospitals - and there won't be any alternatives. At this point you will see more and more efforts at cost cutting by hospitals - and the quality of care and scope of care will be seriously affected. Look at the UK. It's inevitable if we stay on this path.
I had a patient ask the other day why medicare only allowed a payment of about $30 for his extended specialty office visit. He's a business man, and said it ‘didn't seem fair’ for them to pay so little. If medicare is their 'insurance', I don't ask them to pay the difference. The point is that you could have docs work essentially for nothing, and prices would still rise under this system - while the quality of care and personal attention dropped. It's the nature of ‘centralized planning’ and expanding bureaucracies.
Nice job Pythagorean.
Maybe it’s a good thing that insurance renewals are coming out for many companies right before the election. Maybe.
Ours was for this year. We don't know about 2013 yet. Prior to Obamacare we saw 3 or 4% a year.
Left wingers shocked by this news.
Right wingers predicted it decades ago. Does it ever change?
