Obama: Does Romney want ‘to start another war’ in Middle East?
Yahoo News ^ | Sep 23 2012 | Olivier Knox

President Barack Obama hit back hard in a "60 Minutes" interview broadcast Sunday at Mitt Romney's criticisms of his handling of Syria and Iran, saying that if the Republican standard-bearer "is suggesting that we should start another war, he should say so." Obama also brushed aside talk that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been pressuring him to take a harder line on Iran's suspicious nuclear program — source of some of Romney's sharpest campaign-trail criticisms. "When it comes to our national security decisions-- any pressure that I feel is simply to do what's right for the American people. And I am going to block out any noise that's out there," the president said. "Now I feel an obligation -- not pressure but obligation -- to make sure that we're in close consultation with the Israelis-- on these issues, because it affects them deeply," Obama said. "They're one of our closest allies in the region. And we've got an Iranian regime that has said horrible things that directly threaten Israel's existence."

“...either get in it to win, or stay home and quit talkin about it...”

Like one of our Freeper’s taglines says: “Fight like WWII, Win like WWII...”

We’re not fighting like WWII.

Curtis LeMay taught the enemy to fear the sky. Patton taught the enemy to fear the ground. Nimitz taught the enemy to fear the seas.

That attitude is sadly missing now.

Ding ding ding,

You sir win the award. This is Vietnam all over again. The media lost the war. We won it on the ground or would have had our hands not been tied by the media.

Sept 11 was over 11 years ago. WWII only took America 4+1/2 years, and after that there was no will to continue on militarily to take on the USSR for enslaving Eastern Europe.

Most reasonable Americans have long come to the conclusion that neither party (today) has a clue what they are doing, it's just the standard finger pointing and empty promises and killing time, money and losing American lives.

In a way it's like 1984 with the endless war.

Correction : 3+1/2 years (WWII 1942 to mid 1944 ) even worse and America was isolationist before that after WWI, for good reason.

The difference in Obama’s Middle East wars and anything that might result from Romney’s election would be continued incompetence on Obama’s part, versus corrective policy actions on Romney’s.

Either way, there will be a reckoning.

God help us!

Obama’s been doing everything he can to prevent any serious moves against Iran or against Syria.

They have been plenty of times since the rebellion started that Obama has made it clear he's thought about military intervention.

Look, I know that Romney's senior foreign policy advisor said last week: "President Romney would do more to help the opposition movement on the ground in Syria working with our allies - like the Turks, like the Saudis, like the Qataris - to get the opposition more training, more resources, more weapons. Really coordinate the effort."

But I think that's Romney just trying to outdo Obama by saying Romney would do more to get involved in Syria. Obama has been talking about it for a long time, and I've felt that he wants to do another Libya where we assist one side or the other.

All of Obama's talk in the past, and the Romney's campaign statements last week just reminds me we have two candidates who want us to get involved in civil wars between Muslims. That's not a winning policy.

Romney's people said on Friday that a Romney administration would get involved with the Syrian war, including training the rebels and giving them weapons. How is that "corrective policy"?

“Romney’s people said on Friday that a Romney administration would get involved with the Syrian war, including training the rebels and giving them weapons. How is that “corrective policy”?”

Gee I don’t know, please define the nebulous, “Romney’s people.”

Maybe Romney just taking the side of liberty in that bess pool of a region, or at a minimum, speaking out against tyrannical theocracies, supporting Israel, getting really tough on Iran and either kicking ass in our two current wars or getting the hell out now.

Sorry pal, there is some very heavy lifting ahead in that region, your hand-wringing aside. Please resume fetal position and insert your left thumb in your mouth.

What the Hell, would you rather I just vote for Obama? Sorry, that ain’t happening!

Burn down the enemy’s willingness, desire, and ability to support the war effort, and the war stops.

“Our” government is not willing to that. It might “offend” them.

But hey...it’s perfectly OK for OUR people to get killed and maimed in the course of following treasonous politically-corrected ROE.

That’s perfectly all right...as long as we don’t offend the enemy...

“...Sept 11 was over 11 years ago...”

I distinctly remember how quickly the Dems and their media sycophants moved to squelch any sense of anger, unity, or desire to hit back hard that the country had immediately following the attacks.

I am sad to say that it didn’t surprise me, but I was amazed at the swiftness of it.

Darryl Worley wrote a song “Have You Forgotten” not too long after the attack, basically expressing just that - the media, and the muzzie-allied liberals just crushing the sense of “Hey...This is AMERICA that was attacked...all of us!”

“...they sent an Army Air Corp. Fighter to intercept the plane...”

Due to the fact the we broke the Japanese Naval Code, we were reading their mail and American Intelligence services knew exactly where Yamamoto would be.

They actually sent SIXTEEN P-38 Lightning fighters to intercept and shoot Yamamoto’s Mitsubishi G4M2 Betty bomber, the decoy bomber, and his fighter escort down. He crashed on Bougainville (Solomon Islands chain, same group as Guadalcanal) and was found dead in the wreckage.

Yamamoto was the man who planned Pearl Harbor. He was made to pay for that with his life. I

This is how you deal with an enemy. Find him, kill him, and make it known that anyone that attacks us will be dealt with similarly.

The SEAL team that took down Bin Laden deserves all the praise and congratulations that we can give them.

FuBO deserves nothing. He did nothing.

I’ll go Lt Col. West one further; the killing of Yamamoto and Bin Laden was not only a tactical success; it was revenge, pure and simple.

On a side note: Yamamoto spoke fluent English, had studied at Harvard University, and served two postings as the Japanese Naval Attache in Washington DC. He was pretty adamant that it was stupid and suicidal to go to war with the USA, but...did it anyway.

I dont remember them succeeding though.
I do remember that GWB did succeed in that with Iraq and it took a couple of years or so to do it, Remember “Stay the course, we are on target” week after week until after the 2006 election? All after the “greet as liberators”, “Mushrroom clouds over US Cities “ and ‘Bring it on” comments and then the endless “Stay the course” ? Then after the election the opposite direction plan?

That will do it. Total impatience and frustation and the belief that you cant trust anything they say. Now we got Obama making up the stories. Who will believe that MR is more honest/less dishonest than those two?

maybe our base mess halls should start serving pork exclusively, and maybe the telebunnies would quit making the Americans spill their pork tainted blood on their holy ground.../sarc

“...I dont remember them succeeding though...”

To a degree, I think they did succeed. I remember having arguments with folks about whether we should hit them back or not. I was pro “bomb them back to the stone age”, of course, as you would expect.

But yes, the anger was pretty powerful, and I think Bush was able to capitalize on it. I don’t blame him though - They started it.

Not me, in fact I remember a couple of black movers here (Dems) telling me they wanted Bush to blow them to hell. In fact I remember many Hispanics voted R in 2004, Like my narrative goes, that was all over by 2006.

Now Obama carries on the tradition.

Same here. It would have worked too. They only understand muscle.
