Egypts New Leader Spells Out Terms for U.S.-Arab Ties
By DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK and STEVEN ERLANGER September 22, 2012 CAIRO On the eve of his first trip to the United States as Egypts new Islamist president, Mohamed Morsi said the United States needed to fundamentally change its approach to the Arab world, showing greater respect for its values and helping build a Palestinian state, if it hoped to overcome decades of pent-up anger.
The reporters who interviewed President Mohamed Morsi of Egypt will respond to selected questions and comments on Monday. Please post your reactions to the interview and ideas about what you would have asked Mr. Morsi.
A former leader of the Muslim Brotherhood and Egypts first democratically elected president, Mr. Morsi sought in a 90-minute interview with The New York Times to introduce himself to the American public and to revise the terms of relations between his country and the United States after the ouster of Hosni Mubarak, an autocratic but reliable ally.
He said it was up to Washington to repair relations with the Arab world and to revitalize the alliance with Egypt, long a cornerstone of regional stability.
If Washington is asking Egypt to honor its treaty with Israel, he said, Washington should also live up to its own Camp David commitment to Palestinian self-rule. He said the United States must respect the Arab worlds history and culture, even when that conflicts with Western values.

This is what you get from all the scraping and bowing, from the bower-in-chief. A FAILED Middle-East policy. Major fail and big embarrassment to this country.
Oh yikes! Ya made me look.
Cut all there funding NOW
What values would those be? How about the values that allow Muslims to rape women and little boys with the blessings of the religion? How about their values that allow them to kill their wives and children? How about their anti Christian and anti Jew values, should we respect those? How about jihad..., kidnapping, beheading, brutalizing? The whole Allah is a god, and Mohammad is his pervert thing can be respected with a snicker, we can even give them a pass on the koran, as theological pornography for a largely illiterate Islamic world. We don’t get the whole 72 black eyed virgins, the killing infidels for spiritual points or, scoring a pass for sinning relatives by killing innocents, but that’s because we haven’t taken the time to see the bigger picture of Islam. We can’t appreciate the poverty, the drudgery, the oppression, the regression of society, the destruction of society, and all the darkness Islam brings. It sucks, but we’ll do our best to respect it.
FUM.
Purely evil.
Your progress is amazing, young Padawan.
The Obama campaign couldn’t have crafted this interview better( oh, what am I saying?) No inconvenient questions, like, “Will you continue to allow Iranian warships free passage through the Suez canal?” Or even, “Do you believe that the move “The innocence of Moslems” had anything to do with the attack on the embassy?” “Did you see it coming as a memorial to the 9/11 attacks?” “Will you continue to demand the release of the blind sheik?”
Anybody have Morsi’s e-mail address?
Islamists can take their pent up anger and shove it. When is the United States going to declare war on Libya and Egypt? We should invade, overthrow their governments, and take their oil until our costs are repaid from sucking up to the islamist ingrates.
Hey Morsi: Pound sand! (You’ve got enough of it.)
