THEY WON'T ALLOW YOU TO QUIT. No matter how many times you tell them to STOP mailing you stuff. They will never, ever remove your name.
Every time they send you something, you can wrap the envelope around a brick or a rock, or something else heavy, and write “Return To Sender” on it, and send it back.
They get to pay the return postage...
I just thrown their stuff in the garbage can.
well I never joined but they mailed me the application when I turned 50. I sent it back in their postage paid envelop saying I wouldn’t join. I got another a couple months later and did same. When I got their third I wrote on it that I can send these back at their expense as many times as they send them. Haven’t rec’d one since - approaching 8 years now.
Actually, I called their customer service # and asked very politely to be removed. They wanted the numbers on the mailing label and did so. I haven't gotten a single piece of their garbage since that time.
I quit paying dues years ago. Yes, I still get junk but I just toss it in the trash along with all the other junk mail.
Neither my wife or I have joined AARP. We throw their garbage mailers into the trash as soon as we get them. That is, except for the personal information that may be in the mailer. That is shredded.
I always send back any SASE with some anti-democrat rant and use the rest for kindling. I like getting fuel in the mail.
It’s good for loggers and my local postMadam’s job.
That's true but it's just costing them money. If you ever receive return-postage-paid envelopes, just send them back with your comments and cost them or their affiliates more money.
“THEY WON’T ALLOW YOU TO QUIT. No matter how many times you tell them to STOP mailing you stuff. They will never, ever remove your name.”
They took my name off their list. You just have to call them out on being the commie pinko’s they are, loud enough!
I have no trouble doing that. No aarp junk since 2007.
They will when you return the post paid envelope pasted around a brick or other heavy object.
I was a longtime AARP member. Some years ago I was in a dispute over a retirement account. The dispute involved a substantial amount of retirement funds. I asked AARP for help but all I received was a kiss-off. It was then I really started to see AARP for what the organization was all about and going to. Didn’t pay dues for years and kept on getting the blurb magazine. The last year or so they haven’t bothered me. It would bother me if I found out AARP was still using my name to puff up it’s membership hype.
I had a pleasant experience quitting AARP.
After calling to quit about three years ago, AARP promptly mailed me a check refunding the balance of my prepaid annual dues.
I’ve only received one solicitation from AARP since, which I simply ignored.
“THEY WON’T ALLOW YOU TO QUIT. No matter how many times you tell them to STOP mailing you stuff. They will never, ever remove your name. “
It has nothing to do with belonging, I have been trashing their crap for over 40 years and can’t stop their mailings!!!
Just send the postage paid envelope back EMPTY or with a note inside for them to quit harrassing you. Make them pay for the postage.
I put everything they send through the shredder except the envelope, which I will fill with other junk and mail it back to them
I don’t even open it up,just put it in the trash..and i get a lot of it
