Pew: Obama 51, Romney 43
Politico ^ | 9/19/12 | ALEXANDER BURNS

Posted on 09/19/2012 8:57:43 PM PDT by Qbert

The Pew Research Center gives Obama his biggest lead of the week, finding that he "holds a bigger September lead than the last three candidates who went on to win in November":

With the exception of jobs and the deficit, on which voter opinion is about evenly divided, Obama leads Romney on most key issues, notably healthcare, Medicare, and abortion.

And the survey, conducted amid an outbreak of violence in the Middle East and shortly after the killing of the U.S. ambassador to Libya, shows that Obama has a wide edge when it comes to foreign affairs and national security. Far more voters see Obama as a strong leader and as the candidate voters believe would use good judgment in a crisis. Voters also express more confidence in Obama than Romney to deal with foreign policy generally, as well as problems in the Middle East. …

Obama’s overall advantage – he leads 51% to 42% among registered voters – does not narrow significantly when looking only at those most likely to vote. Among 2,192 likely voters, Obama leads Romney, 51% to 43%.

So, in the last 24 hours we've seen a 5-point Obama lead from NBC/WSJ, a 1-point Obama lead from AP-GfK and this 8-point lead from Pew. While the top lines numbers vary from poll to poll, the consistent pattern is some edge for Obama on the overall ballot, plus a lead on most individual issues and a dead heat (or something like it) on the economy. If you consider the fundamental conditions of the 2012 cycle, the fact that Romney hasn't been able to establish a lead over Obama on economic issues is probably the most surprising stat of them all.

OMG- It's all over!! We've reached the tipping point! Obama's running away with it! Voters are so irate at Romney's 47% comment that they're rushing in masses to the embrace the POTUS who destroyed their jobs. We've even lost Frum and Noonan! AAHHH!

Oh, wait:

Registered voters, D/R/I:

“the fact that Romney hasn’t been able to establish a lead over Obama on economic issues is probably the most surprising stat of them all.”

Actually, it’s not surprising at all. When you have clearly oversampled just enough Dems to get the answer you want, why is it a surprise that Obama is winning????
These people are delusional.

Let me know when there’s a poll that manages to reach the proper percentage of Republicans. At this point, it looks like most Republicans don’t want to be polled - they will still vote, but they’d rather not be polled.

This reads like a satire. Obama is ahead on every issue except being tied on a couple.

Maybe but from long experience I know Pew is unreliable.

The crazy thing is (shhhh, don't tell the Dems), that they think they're suppressing GOP turnout by doing this. Not sure about prior years, but I just don't see that having any effect on our side. On the other hand, I could well imagine a lot of overconfident Libs and Dems, especially young ones, going out, drinking, celebrating in advance, getting cocky and overconfident, and therefore not voting.

So keep slanting those polls, and don't tell your Dem friends that they're skewed!

This poll even showed no change whne they went from registered to likely voters, which I’ve never seen before.

So keep slanting those polls, and don't tell your Dem friends that they're skewed!

Then, on November 7th, Dems will be saying, "we are so skewed!"

I am skeptical of poll results for this particular year but it does seem like Romney is taking an ideal situation to beat Obama and screwing it up.

I will spare you the details and editorial.

Today, Karl Rove admitted Obama is ahead in Florida and Virginia and Minnesota. He would never had admitted that unless he believed it.

Of course it’s skewed, but it’s close and the Fraud probably is ahead by 1 - 2 points. This should spell the end of the GOP and the elite that run it. The campaign they are running is pathetic... Here is what Romney has to work with, this is an abbreviated list...

Record unemployment
Record food stamp use
Record foreclosures
Raising gas prices
An opponent who will raise taxes on everyone with taxable income, even those at the very bottom where the starting rate jumps from 10 - 15 %
An American Ambassador murdered and dragged through the streets by Muslim thugs. Three other murdered
Other deaths and US embassies across the globe under attack
In the last two years double the number of Americans killed in Afghanistan than in the previous 9 years
Ordering Catholic organizations to provide birth control to it’s workers
A national debt out of control that has caused two credit rating drops and will bankrupt us if not stopped.
A currency that is at it’s lowest value ever and may very likely be replaced as the currency of international trade
Israel on the verge of attacking Iran, that might start a major war in the Middle East and beyond
A corrupt justice department which refuses to produce subpoenaed documents in a congressional investigation
The NDAA allowing US citizen (if deemed to be terrorist) to be held without trail until it’s determine it’s safe to release them
Mountain of executive orders, creating laws and regulations by going around congress
A President who has played over 90 rounds of golf in under 3 1/2 year, attended more WH parties, state dinners and taken more vacations than any modern President

And Romney is losing ???

"Yet another skewed poll."

It's the only way he can lead in a poll.
