U.S. intelligence and counterterrorism agencies should have anticipated last week’s terror attack in Libya and increased security at the consulate where four Americans were killed, a Republican senator said Wednesday.
“This was not a ‘black swan’ event,’” said Sen. Susan M. Collins of Maine, referring to a philosopher’s definition of a completely unexpected phenomenon.
The attack “should have been anticipated,” given the number of Islamic extremists in Libya and the fact that the country “is awash in heavy weapons,” she said during a hearing of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

Yep, no doubt, I think the same thing. And where is HILLARY hiding . She knows she did wrong. But I'm sure she will get over it.
I maintain no warning was necessary .... just the fact that it was the anniversary of 9-11 should have been enough to beef up security ... or add it since they seemed to have precious little in Libya, even at the embassy. Stevens should not have been in Benghazi on 9-11.
Baier reporting now that the leader of the Libyan attack was an ex-Gitmo tenant, released to Libya in 2007 under the proviso he remain in jail.
Well, we know that did not happen.

I was listening to my local talk radio station on the way into work this morning and I heard the host say this in regard to the 9/11 attacks on Embassies in the Middle East...specifically Libya:
- When attacks began Embassy officials began calling the State Department to inform them
- State Department essentially shut down their incoming phone lines for over 9 hours and Middle East diplomatic personnel were unable to contact them
- Middle East diplomatic personnel were forced to contact the State Department via Twitter to make US officials aware of the ongoing attacks.
I've already emailed the talk show host asking if he had link(s) to verify those bits of information. But he's still on the air and I don't expect (hope for) a response for some time.
Does anyone know of a link(s) to stories that verify any/all of the above items?
