But I can't find any evidence, in the Chicago Tribune article or on the Chik-Fil-A website, that Chik-Fil-A has actually changed it's policy at all. (They did agree to some traffic flow changes for their new location.)
I found this on their website...
The Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our Restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender. We will continue this tradition in the over 1,600 Restaurants run by independent Owner/Operators. Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena.
Time will tell if Chik-Fil-A will continue funding the defense of traditional marriage, but it looks like Moreno is looking to claim victory in order to back away from an obviously unconstitutional effort to deny a private business of it's first amendment rights.
CFL always supported pro-family groups which lefties call “anti-gay”. The alderman just declared victory and brought the troops home.
...and the war against a civilized free thinking society continues.
By adding that pledge, it looks more like CFA relented.
Talk about a biased lying headline! At least the Chi Trib headline Moreno relents, will allow Chick-fil-A is more accurate.
Did Chik-fil-A ever fund those organizations, or was it the owner’s personal money? I thought it was their own money, which if true, then nothing has really changed.
It depends whether you consider family or pro-life groups, or for that matter churches and church-sponsored charities, to be “anti-gay.”
Alderman Joe Moreno probably says yes, these are hate groups, and Chick-Fil-A says no, they are not.
In any case, I think the truth is that the Alderman is backing down, because it was a politically stupid move in the first place.
I certainly hope CFA hasn't changed their policy from a national perspective. Perhaps this simply refers to the what the franchise owner will do.
If it turns out CFA has bent to the "will" of the homo activities, I will be sorely disappointed in them.
Ald. Proco “Joe” Moreno, 1st, said the restaurant has agreed to include a statement of respect for all sexual orientations in an internal document and promised that its not-for-profit arm would not contribute money to groups that oppose gay marriage.
NONSENSE. This would mean that they could never contribute money to anyone. You could contribute today to a group that has not taken a stand against homosexuals marrying only to see them adopt that stand 3 months later.
I think this is a typical democrat lying as usual.
