Bill requires all health plans to cover contraceptives, sterilizations A $1.047 trillion bill funding the federal government through March 2013 has been passed by House Republicans. The bill includes the regulation that took effect on August 1 that will require virtually all health plans in the U.S. to cover, without fees or co-pay, sterilizations and all FDA-approved contraceptives -- including those that induce abortions. LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The vote passed by a wide margin of 329-91. The bill now goes to the Senate for expected approval next week. The bill also funds the government for six months into the new fiscal year and for almost five months after the November elections. Congress turned to the stop-gap measure after failing to pass any of the 12 appropriation bills necessary to fund day-to-day government operations. Declared unanimously as an "unjust and illegal mandate" by the bishops of the United States, the body declared the Obamacare sterilization-contraception-abortifacient regulation one that violates the right to free exercise of religion -- not only of Catholic institutions, but also of Catholic business owners and workers. The bill does not prohibit funding for either Obamacare programs or Planned Parenthood, nor does it stop the government from enforcing regulations, such as the mandate from the Health and Human Services Department that nearly all health insurance plans provide contraceptives, sterilizations and abortion-inducing drugs free of charge. House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), described the health insurance mandate as an "unambiguous attack on religious freedom in our country" and a violation of the First Amendment protecting the free exercise of religion. Boehner supports the CR along with the GOP House leadership.

Is anyone really surprised by this?
Did you really the GOPe represented conservative views.
Not only do they love abortion, they love forcing YOU to pay for abortion!!
Thank goodness for the 2 party system.... rgh... never mind
So true, I have been saying for years that every time a conservative holds their nose and votes for a liberal they are also giving the thumbs up sign to the RINO GOP.
This will help bring out the conservative base.... NOT
Boenher did say the House would fund ObamaCare.... it’s settled law now...
Gohmert as well.
Of course this passed. The Democrats knew that they could get anything that they wanted out of the Republicans because of looming Military cuts. Last year when The Budget Control Act was passed into law I knew this would happen.
How likely is it that we can replace Boehner in the next House seat elections?
I doubt it very much. Unless the GOP loses some seats or something he is in.
I would love to see about 90 House members switch to a third party right after the election
Ugh... I still don’t get this. There are some real conservatives who voted for this garbage bill. Why? Did the Dems really have us by the balls on this one?
While the anger at the “yae”’s is understandable, let’s give props to those who voted no. They were likely under incredible pressure from Boehner and they voted for their conscience.
Immediately after this election, we conservatives need, yes NEED, to begin the formation of a third party structure. That way, our threats to bolt will have teeth, because we will have somewhere else to go.
The GOPe says ObamaCare is settled law, just like abortion.
OK
But why do we have to fund it? Why can’t people buy their own birth control or pay for their own abortion?
Spread the guilt?
>> It is not an America worth defending anymore.
Hell, it gets easier when there’s nothing left to lose...

Paul Ryan?
even better than that...they cant even manage 'support' to just include the necessities...
Congress turned to the stop-gap measure after failing to pass any of the 12 appropriation bills necessary to fund day-to-day government operations.
all of the excuses about this just not being the right time, with an election and all, are pitiful considering that theyve had 2 yrs and thats been the excuse, and will be yet again *after* the elction, because the MSM is sooooooooo mean...
This Republican House put into power by the Tea party rebellion was whipped early on summer 2011. No point in me going though all the things I think they did wrong again. In fact I am skeptical that they wanted to cut spending themselves, .
The whole Debt Limit Budget Control Act was a scam to cave to Obamaand continue spending while claiming it met the Tea Party objectives, as Ryan claimed that 2/3rds of his goals were met(he doesnt say that now.).
So now they Boehner+CO tell us :
“Vote for us so we are not forced to support bills like this any longer
“Vote for us so we can undue the destructive cuts we made last year in what we called a historical national debt cutting bill”
There are parts of me that agree, I am not there yet however I see it coming.
God’s speed.
