I dont remember how things were with the media when Reagan ran for President(Too darn young to remember) your right about the media. Never in my lifetime do I remember the media being THIS invested in a candidate winning, and its dangerous. The job of the media is to report the news, with this media their job is to make sure Obama is protected, no matter what and THAT is scary.
Romney can speak to the American people, relay his message during the debates. He can tell the American people what he will do and how he will do it. There is no way the media can take that away from him. Sure they will smear him but if he just acts calm, cool, and collective and speak from the heart he will be fine
When Ronald Reagan was running for President, the most common word used as a perjorative to describe him was “actor”, and they downplayed his tenure as a competant administrator as the governor of California.
The media has been as biased or more so in the past, the republicans who overcome it do so by force of personality.
Reagan, imho, did it with two odd incidents. The “I’m paying for this microphone!”outburst, and when a black guy in Harlem argued with Reagan, Reagan told him off. Oddly, the people and media liked both.
Romney does well enough in his words, he attacks Obama a lot, but he is mild mannered. I don’t mean weak I think he’s tough, but his manner is very polite. Very presidential, really. But will it work?

Eveer since Woodward and Bernstein showed the media that they could collectively destroy a sitting president, the media has come to view itself as the sole determiner of the Presidency.
The sheeple proved it in 2008.
