Political reporters on Twitter are saying they are standing by for a Romney media availability on the video released today by Mother Jones of Romney at a May fundraiser speaking frankly of his thoughts on Obama's base voters and their entitlement mentality, aka the 47% who pay no federal income taxes.
The media and GOP-E have jumped ugly on Romney tonight.
Steve Holland, Reuters: Romney at press avail to respond to video says his comments weren't "elegantly stated," and "could have said it in a more effective way."
He’s kind of doubling down, saying that it’s all about who he can draw into his campaign. He just said he could have been more elegant about stating it, but he doesn’t seem to be backing down from what he said.

That’s my point. Romney has to beat the hell out of Obama in that demographic. That demographic for the most part sees themselves not as takers but as makers. So where’s the downside? Certainly not with the takers in the 18-29 demographic who have record high unemployment rates. This won’t change any minds down there.

Regardless of this issue, it’s noble to recognize and apologize for malice and carelessness, but strangely there is hardly any value for this in the World of politics; the apology seems only to solidify resentment against the politician.

and as i hear him speak at the moment, he clearly doesn't get it because he said "PAY NO TAXES" ~ WHICH MEANS HE STILL DOESN"T GET IT ~ Has no comprehension of the situation at all, and appears to be in some serious disagreement with Ronald Reagan WHO is the guy who started the process of lifting the federal personal income tax from the backs of low income people.
This guy is hopeless. And he said it again "people who are used to paying no taxes"
BTW, does Romney know the difference between capital gains taxes and federal personal income taxes? Did he actually pay any federal personal income taxes or was it just capital gains? Seriously, anyone know?
