Political reporters on Twitter are saying they are standing by for a Romney media availability on the video released today by Mother Jones of Romney at a May fundraiser speaking frankly of his thoughts on Obama's base voters and their entitlement mentality, aka the 47% who pay no federal income taxes.
The media and GOP-E have jumped ugly on Romney tonight.
Steve Holland, Reuters: Romney at press avail to respond to video says his comments weren't "elegantly stated," and "could have said it in a more effective way."
Mitt spoke to a Hispanic interest group today, and I'm guessing his speech left a mark, hence the pre-arranged "leak".
You know Axelrod an awful lot better than I do. Is it bent?
They will try to spin this as Romney denigrating the people who either actually earned a gov’t pension or actually need it.
No one’s gonna buy it. Everyone knows whom he is talking about. They might try for the “racist” angle, but that would be actually racist in and of itself.
a lot of people probably agree with you.... thanks for a very good post.
So my 84 year old mother, whose income is 17K a year should pay more taxes? Really????
And you began 'the interaction' by calling me a democrat lackey, troll.
All the man has to do is ask...
“What’s your choice? Vote for me, get/hold a job when I turn the economy around and pay taxes or sit and be an able bodied burden on the system? Let your pride in yourself determine your vote.”
Instant win.
I thought I was seeing things..I even looked away and looked back, and yep...Something was different IMO. Could have been the angle?...Dunno
Be careful about what is “disabled” these days too. There’s lots of people with stress-related disabilities. Most of those are just people with minor problems who could have been helped but the gummint would rather call them disabled than risk adding them to the unemployment rolls. Stress-related disability is becoming a common way to keep the gravy train running after the unemployment runs out.
“But his statement makes it look like they are nothing but lazy leeches. “

I’m a senior on S.S. and Medicare and it never occurred to me that Romney was talking about people like me.
The Press really think they are running the show ...
I have many more than one Vote ... I am voting every day with what I do on a daily basis... they may only count the one I cast in November but me and millions more like me still vote every day.

The media has been as biased or more so in the past, the republicans who overcome it do so by force of personality.
Reagan, imho, did it with two odd incidents. The “I’m paying for this microphone!”outburst, and when a black guy in Harlem argued with Reagan, Reagan told him off. Oddly, the people and media liked both.
Romney does well enough in his words, he attacks Obama a lot, but he is mild mannered. I don’t mean weak I think he’s tough, but his manner is very polite. Very presidential, really. But will it work?
[ I think they put this out now because Obama was starting to get killed on the Middle East demonstrations. ]
Totally agree.
Mitt comments were about govt dependence .
And of course, he isn’t.
The constitution was amended to authorize income taxes ~ from any source ~ but for most of my life there's been an invidious differentiation between wages earned by the poor and dividends accepted by the rich ~ mostly for the purpose of defeating the effect of the personal income tax rates on the rich.
Time to end the class war!
why are you bringing up tax rates now ???
Mitt comments were about govt dependence .
Nope, everyone knows whom he’s talking about.
And it’s not those who earned it or truly need it.
He wasn’t.
without knowing it, the dopes have handed Romney a golden opportunity
