The problem and there is one in the Mitt Romney camp is not the lack of policies or the wrong policies. In fact the campaign has accumulated sensible conservative policies on everything from Medicare reform to energy development to Israel. But policy in a presidential campaign cant be an end in itself. There is no prize for best white papers and most eloquent e-mail releases. If a campaign is too cautious, too afraid of a misstep, too anxious to retreat when the mainstream media howl, too slow to utilize the stories of the day and too intent on trimming its sails, the campaign will not succeed.
The frustration in the conservative movement is not with Romneys positions nor even with Romney himself, who has earned the admiration of the base both because of his exemplary personal character and because of his nerviness in selecting as his running mate Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.).
When a big event occurs (e.g., a credit downgrade, more than 20 embassies under siege) the campaign will churn out an e-mail. Maybe a speech but in a few weeks. This is not the optimal way to run a presidential campaign in a 24/7 new media environment.
There are at least five things the campaign is doing or not doing that dull and dampen its message and drive conservatives nuts.

PROJECTION; PROJECTION; PROJECTION.
The mode of operation by the left is always “projection”, which is projecting upon your enemy the very thing you are guilty of currently doing, or you have done in the past.
Such as, “The Romney Campaign is floundering” .. while in FACT it is the Obama Campaign which is floundering.
If more people would follow these comments out to the end they would find it’s just “projection” .. and you have been manipulated into believing a LIE.
The left does it all the time.
Jennifer Rubin is "the left," now? Seriously -- ?!?
[::shakes head, laughing::]
LOL .. don’t have to shake my head.
She’s obviously united with the rest of the media in setting the narrative .. “the Romney Campaign is in disarray”. When, in fact, it is the Obama Campaign that is in total disarray. Classic!!
If you can’t see that ..????
Didn't even bother following the link provided, then...?
Oh. Okay.
I don't want to make phone calls to Republican Party members, but am going to because i see it as the most effective way of generating the votes for the anti-Obama candidate.
Thank you (or whichever other mod, if not you specifically) for cleaning up the toxic spill left in the keywords. ;)
She may claim to be “Conservative”, but her article is NOT CONSERVATIVE in its construct.
In other words, she writes for an ultra-left paper .. so she must get it past the editors .. thus she will NEVER WRITE AS A CONSERVATIVE.
If you believe she does ...... LOL!!!!
*snort*
"What" and "ever," in that order.
And that extends to the original poster in that thread and here as well. I wouldn't have known what Rubin felt, nor would I have cared, nor do I care; but some butthurt Freetard saw fit to spool the lame yellow MSM journolistm meme du jour instead of spiking it.
Pfffftt.
Yes, definitely, the media will do their usual thing during and after the debates.
Still, these are what will affect the race the most from here until November -that and events unknown of course.
I think Rubin is right about some of this stuff, though I think it’s funny that I’m reading this a few hours after seeing John Bolton on TV talking about Obama’s failed Middle east policy... That said, one thing you may want to consider is that a person who thought six years ago that Romney was the only electable guy out there...
1. Would expect Romney to be up by 10 because he’s so dreamy, and therefore be looking for problems and possibly magnifying them out of proportion.
2. Doesn’t have much sense in the first place.
Romney is not up by three in Rasmussen because he’s losing. He’s not seeing tight races in swing states because he’s got it wrapped up. Panic is unwarranted, so is overconfidence.
To close, and I may just make this my standard post in these threads to save time:
Carter up 5.
Dukakis up 17.
McCain up 5.
Oh, I forgot...Mondale up 5.
You make a good point, and I don’t know why people can’t see this.
Not only does the media report everything as a sign of disarray (if he attacks it’s because he’s desperate, if he stays positive it’s because he’s McCain II or unable to run a campaign) but as HotAir reported, the media can’t even report the same reason that he’s in trouble, at this point they have several and all come from “unnamed sources” in the Romney campaign.
What I remember hearing ad nauseum in '08, alternately, was a months-long fusillade of snide, arrogant assurances on the parts of McCainiacs various and sundry that "You can't believe the MSM polls showing McCain trailing Obama!" and "McCain already has this election in the freakin' BAG, buddy!" and (my personal favorite; ululated just two or three days prior to the election, itself) "FORTY-SEVEN STATE SWEEP, BAYBEEEEEEEEEEEE -- !!!" Well... ummmmmmmmmmm... WRONG, as the saying evidently goes. ;)
I've been eligible to vote (and have faithfully done so) since Ford/Carter, and I've yet to see ANY campaign forced to repeat -- on a daily basis; for weeks, or even months -- "donnnnnnnnnnnnn't belieeeeeeeeeeeeeve the pollllllllssssssss... donnnnnnnnnnnnn't belieeeeeeeeeeeeeve the pollllllllssssssss..." end up in the winning column, come November.
Should Romney somehow startle, by being the very first, fine and dandy... but: he actually has to do it first, before I actually go ahead and award him credit for doing so. I'm just naturally funny, that way. ;)
I understand, I’m just saying this, which I should have said when I posted the Mondale thing:
Do you think there is any real chance that after the “Morning in America” Recovery, after 12 years of Nixon, Ford and Carter, etc., Mondale was really up five points among people who were headed to the polling booth for real?
Thus, the lesson is imparted, big guy.
Oh, and my first vote was in 1992. Ergo, you’re older than dirt. :-)

Is there a vacancy for the Commissar of Rabbit Boiling?
Is this an audition?
