emocratic incumbent Bill Nelson still leads Republican Connie Mack in Florida's hotly contested U.S. Senate race.
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the Sunshine State finds Nelson with 47% support to Macks 40%. Five percent (5%) prefer some other candidate, while eight percent (8%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
The latest findings show no change from mid-August. Florida remains Leans Democrat in the Rasmussen Reports Senate Balance of Power rankings. Nelson was first elected to the Senate in 2006 to fill the seat vacated by Macks father.
President Obama has now moved slightly ahead in the presidential race in Florida despite the presence of the Republican National Convention in Tampa late last month. But Florida remains a Toss-Up in the Rasmussen Reports Electoral College Projections.
Nelson is viewed favorably by 51% of Florida voters and unfavorably by 38%. This includes 21% with a Very Favorable opinion and 20% with a Very Unfavorable one.
For Mack, favorables are 40% and unfavorables 48%, including 17% with a Very Favorable view of him and 24% with a Very Unfavorable one. This marks little change for either man from a month ago.

This really sucks. Nelson is ripe for defeat. Obamugabe is not popular....
Roger that. Good. I can’t see NW FL voting for rats in any significant numbers. Obama is despised.
Does anyone remember where Rubio was at this stage of the game?
I
thought not.
I seem to recall Rubio was ahead from start to finish.
They are nuts and if Obama wins, may every single one of his a$$wipe voters get what they deserve
The number of The Entitled has soared since the “messiah” rose to the throne. I sure hope this condition isn’t permanent. Increasing the numbers of the Entitled is the only way communism can succeed.
We are not screwed in Florida. There are lots of Republicans that vote in Florida that do not have Florida numbers. I know lots of them.
Re: “Are the commies going to take FL?”
The Commies have already taken south Florida.
More than half the population comes from New York, New Jersey, or Latin America.
You are right, Hero. I remember that too. Thank you for reminding us.
Central Florida here and I haven’t seen one ad for Mack. Republican party must not be spending for the Senate race in Florida.
I agree. in 2010, our people fought hard and made their case. That's why we have a large number of brilliant, bold new leaders in DC (Rubio, West, Toomey, Lee, Johnson, and dozens of others). This time it seems like everyone from top to bottom is running with no purpose. In Florida, I see nothing from Mack or Romney that is inspiring to get behind. I don't get it, other than that the consultants took over and watered everything down.

Please. Stop being so negative. You have been drinking the polling Kool-aide. I will you ask you this question, do you think these turn out models of +10 Dems are accurate?
I learned last night at the Dodger game that you can never give up. I left the game a little early after Dodger bats had been quiet for several innings. Then listening on the car radio, the Dodgers came back to win with 2 outs in the 9th.
Unfortunately we all have to live with his policies.
He was the darling of the GOP-e though! They picked him,not the Conservatives. They thought this guy’s name recognition would give them clout.
Don’t see the establishment coming down here and campaigning for him either. Nelson’s ads are everywhere which tells me he has the money.
The Gop-e has not helped Karen Harrigan’s campaign against DWS either. I don’t hear anything about that race. Harrigan is a great candidate and they should be pouring money into Florida for these races as they will help Romney as well.
Sounds like some great vetting down there by FL GOP voters. /s
“They thought this guys name recognition would give them clout.”
Never pick a Politicians kid for elective office if at all possible too many have an entitlement attitude. I know there are good ones but sometimes it’s best to err on the side of caution in anything that can effect your life in drastic ways.
Mack represented my district in southwest Florida when I lived there. He owned a condo in my condo complex but did not reside there. Instead he lived in the heavily Democratic Palm Beach County with the beautiful people. Mack also divorced his wife to marry a fellow member of Congress, Mary Bono, widow of sSonny Bono. Mack is a playboy and opportunist, not a serious conservative or servant of the people. He is a willing puppet of the GOP elite and will do as he is told if he can get elected.
FL GOP senate primary was a game of Survivor..everyone kept dropping out..we had two or three pretty solid, conservtaive candidates, but they couldn’t get any traction
