Contrary to Egyptian claims to be in control of the Multinational Force in northern Sinai base after its invasion by Salafist Bedouin gunmen Friday night, all they had managed to do by Saturday morning was to mediate between the New Zealand general who commands the base and the invaders on terms for their departure. The gunmen linked to al Qaeda still control the exits and entrances to the Al Ghora base, holding hundreds of US officers, soldiers and airmen to siege.

If this story is true then the Domino Effect has kicked in. Egypt will eventually cancel the Camp David accords and step back to 1973. How can anybody ask the Israelis to compromise on any issues? Isn't it clear that you can't sign peace treaties with Muslims? Truth is out, no more withdrawls by the Israelis or the West, that's it, heels must be dug in or we are going to be swamped.

The MFO Base attack is an elusive story, I’ve pieced togeather that Egyptian Tanks are now stationed in the Sinai, against the Camp David accords, and yesterday there was a brief report from Haaretz of casualities.

No, that’s how it works at North Camp. I was in MFO back in the 80’s, and our soldiers are at South Camp near Sharm el sheik while the office types are up north.

The best fighters in North Camp are from Fiji. (Seriously.)

According to debka, the terrorists infiltrated the camp, captured weapons and ammunition, and engaged in firefights with US forces. Probably impossible to know how many casualties until it’s over.
