A Wisconsin judge has struck down the state law championed by Gov. Scott Walker that effectively ended collective bargaining rights for most public workers.

Dane County Circuit Judge Juan Colas ruled Friday that the law violates both the state and U.S. Constitution and is null...

***

It was not clear if the ruling means the law is immediately suspended.

It’ll be appealed to and upheld by the WI Supreme Court, hands down. Then the goonions will do what all Leftists predictably do, take a STATE issue out of the state to their ultra-communist friends in Washington and have them strike in down as “unconstitutional.”

Bottom feeders like Colas should not have this kind of power.

There’s already a federal case going on, too, in which a US District Court judge upheld most of the law but struck down some provisions. Story at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2866251/posts .

Arguments in the appeal of that one are set for Sept. 24.

Well, carlo3b, you are absolutely and unquestionably correct!!!

Here in CA back in the 70's Jesse Unruh sheparded legislation through to allow public employee unions and of course Governor Moonbeam signed it right away!

We have tried several ballot measures (since we had some success with Prop 13) to do what Scott Walker has done in WI. The unions here just freaked and enlisted every organization, especially 501(c)3's all the way from environmental nut groups to minorities to even churches to beat every one of these down to defeat.

One that really upset us in the 90's was www.defeatprop226.org that was to stop the closed shops from extricating dues moneys for political purposes. So you're right! It's WAR!!! (from where I sit)

Sure miss our mutual french friend, the lovely Angelique. Those were the days... (sigh)

Yes, even the Sacramental BEE has been warning, so goes Chicago teachers union in this negotiation, so goes all other battles like WI, etc. The last I heard they’re voting on a proposal on Sunday and if it wins the election, it’ll then be over. It’s never over till it’s over according to Yogi Berra, ya know...

You put the matter in a very good perspective. I have for years maintained that any and all unions under the banner of a public funded service should be strictly illegal. These unions extort monies from taxpayers who have no direct voice about what their services are worth at any time in any economic conditions. Public managers for the most part are useless as they know their jobs are highly dependent on thugs in the unions. Public unions wore out their societal usefulness soon after the 1930s turmoils.

You put the matter in a very good perspective. I have for years maintained that any and all unions under the banner of a public funded service should be strictly illegal.

"... Meticulous attention should be paid to the special relationships and obligations of public servants to the public itself and to the government. All Government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations ... The very nature and purposes of Government make it impossible for ... officials ... to bind the employer ... The employer is the whole people, who speak by means of laws enacted by their representatives ...

"Particularly, I want to emphasize my conviction that militant tactics have no place in the functions of any organization of government employees. Upon employees in the federal service rests the obligation to serve the whole people ... This obligation is paramount ... A strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent ... to prevent or obstruct ... Government ... Such action, looking toward the paralysis of Government ... is unthinkable and intolerable."

-FDR, 1937

Finally PMSNBC will get off Romney’s statement defending the country after the embassy was stormed in Cairo. They’ve been blabbing about it non-stop now for 5 days. Now they can blab non-stop about how bad Governor Walker is and what a great judge this liberal POS is for ruling against it.

The announcement came from the City and not the CTU. The CTU isn’t saying they have a deal. We’ll see. I hope they continue to strike. They need to be broken.

They note, invade and undermine all the respected institutions in America. It’s the liberal way. Look what they’re doing to the military.

Let them. They'll hand WI to Romney.

Now check this out. If Mittens takes WI and IA, he could actually afford to lose NV, NM, and OH (!), and he'd still win 273-272.

2008 + IN, NC, FL, VA, NE1, CO, WI, IA = 273EV

Thank you for posting Franklin Delano Roosevelt's dictum on public employee unions. I'd heard it, but never read it. It's perfect and powerful!!!

I frankly don't think enough people know about this. This would be a good Tea Party project, to get this powerful idea out to all the public... Along with the morbid history of how Democrats went right ahead after his death and proceeded to ordain the very idea he abhorred!!!

The supreme court of wis ruled on this already.

this is a delay tactic.

if anything the judge should be personally sanctioned.
