Attorney General Eric Holder said that Justice Department officials had opened a criminal investigation into the deaths of the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other diplomats killed during an attack on the American mission in Benghazi. It was not immediately clear whether authorities were focusing on the California filmmaker as part of that probe.
A federal law enforcement official said Thursday that Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, 55, was the man behind "Innocence of Muslims," a film denigrating Islam and the Prophet Muhammad that sparked protests earlier in the week in Egypt and Libya and now in Yemen. U.S. authorities are investigating whether the deaths of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans in Libya came during a terrorist attack.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss an ongoing investigation, said Nakoula was connected to the persona of Sam Bacile, a figure who initially claimed to be the writer and director of the film. But Bacile quickly turned out to a false identity and the Associated Press traced a cellphone number used by Bacile to a southern California house where Nakoula was found.

The US has blasphemy laws now??
Just sharia.
The feds are desperately trying to distract from Obama’s disaster.
This man is just a cheesy Hollywood film-maker. There are hundreds if not thousands like him.
He made a dumb movie; others performed assasinations.
There is absolutely no mystery here and NO moral equivalency even though they're now trying to make him some kind of scapegoat.
When Hussein ran, we investigated a PLUMBER who asked ONE question.
When ONE reporter questioned Hussein ONE time, they chased him from the presser all the way down to the Washington Monument.
How is this different?
Seems you may be right.
This poor man is in no way responsible.
OK. They solved the case in WORLD RECORD TIME. These guys must be geniuses.
Funny how everything else in front of the DOJ takes years to resolve, or even get documents on.
Oh well, they have a scapegoat to blame it all on.
If this is true, we better here from some high ranking senators- pronto. This is not the American way.
It will only lead to many more things being found on the web that muslims find offensive......as soon as I come up with something good.
Ah, the media. Forever fronting evil.
In my mind, there is a revolving squirrel cage at the bottom of hell, because even Satan can't figure out who should be at the bottom.
Lawyers, Media, Politicians, Bureaucrats, Public Educators, Bankers, Liberals, Leftists, RINOs, around and around and around it goes.
And that's just the religious people.
A DOJ which...
1. Considered it OK if armed men in combat boots and berets threatened voters on election day...
2. Smuggled 2,500 machine-guns to Mexican drug-dealers, then tried to set up the people they’d asked to help them in their plan (which killed 2 cops and 250 poor Mexicans)...
Would they do THIS? I think that’s obvious, and I think Holder’s DOJ is being fairly honest and consistent about their treachery.
Obama did say he would seek justice. I guess he means justice for Islam.
It is not immediately clear that Yahoo is a news organization...
The person who produced this film is disgusting. It is not immediately clear whether he is a Coptic Christian as he may have claimed. I am convinced that the Obama administration's only possible motives for revealing his identity are evil. It is inexcusable to violate the privacy of this person, except in a court of law, even if he is responsible for a phenomenally terrible movie that was used as an excuse for serious violence.
Me too!
I want anti-Constitutional blasphemers FIRED.....Barack!
Why is the US using its resources to track down someone who broke no law?
It is no freaking business of the feds (or anyone else) who made that film. So long as it doesn’t called for armed insurrection or the death of someone it is 100% within the law.
People who would trash our First Amendment Rights are scarier than any terrorist.
Why do you say that?
