CAIRO (Reuters) - Egyptian protesters scaled the walls of the U.S. embassy on Tuesday, tore down the American flag and burned it during a protest over what they said was a film being produced in the United States that insulted Prophet Mohammad.
In place of the U.S. flag, the protesters tried to raise a black flag with the words "There is no God but God, and Mohammad is his messenger", a Reuters witness said.
Once the U.S. flag was hauled down, some protesters tore it up and showed off pieces to television cameras. Others burned the remains outside the fortress-like embassy building in central Cairo. But some protesters objected to the flag burning.
Many Muslims consider any depiction of the Prophet to be offensive.
"This movie must be banned immediately and an apology should be made," said 19-year-old Ismail Mahmoud, a member of the so-called "ultras" soccer supporters who played a big role in the uprising that brought down Hosni Mubarak last year.
He called on President Mohamed Mursi, Egypt's first civilian president and an Islamist, to take action, without giving details of the film that angered him or other protesters.
About 20 people stood on top of the embassy wall, while about 2,000 protesters gathered outside. The demonstrators were mainly supporters of Islamist groups or "ultras" youths.
Rafik Farouk, 38, an Egyptian Christian, also took part. "I am here because I am Egyptian and reject anything that insults Islam or anything that sparks division in Egypt," he said.
Washington has a big mission in Egypt, partly because of a huge aid programme that followed Egypt's signing of a peace treaty with Israel in 1979. The United States gives $1.3 billion to Egypt's military each year and offers the nation other aid.

“Egypt’s Coptic Orthodox church also condemned in a statement some Copts living abroad who it said financed “the production of a film insulting Prophet Mohammad”, a state website reported. About a 10th of Egypt’s 83 million people are Christians.”
Looks like the Copts have fully accepted their status of dhimmitude.
“Muslims understand only one kind of diplomacy and that is FORCE!”
From the article....
“One slogan scrawled on the walls of the embassy, which is near Tahrir Square where Egyptians revolted against Mubarak, said: “If your freedom of speech has no limits, may you accept our freedom of action.”
They were ordered to stand down. There can be no other reason one of the largest contingents of Embassy Marines would allow something like this to happen.
Ask the Empty Chair. Surely he will have a lame excuse right after he finishes his bowing to Mecca.

Clerics Preach Incitement and War
by IPT News Aug 28, 2012 at 2:20 pm
Two prominent Muslim clerics issued statements urging violence against Israel and the United States, in communication reported by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).
Egyptian cleric Safwat Higazi told a television interviewer that the Muslim Brotherhood still harbors ambitions to become masters of the world. Muslims want peace, he said, but welcome war if that doesnt get what is rightfully ours.
The interview focused primarily on Israel, with Higazi defending a fatwa, or religious edict, calling for the murder of any Israeli a person may encounter. If that Zionist is fighting me, occupying my country, and killing people who are my brothers in country, religion, and humanity then its an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, and whoever started it is to blame, he said.
In May, Higazi introduced Brotherhood official Mohamed Morsis presidential campaign in Egypt, saying Morsi would restore the United States of the Arabs with the capital of the Caliphate in Jerusalem.
Higazi said he opposes the Camp David peace agreement between Israel and Egypt, but then argued it never would have happened if not for the 1973 Yom Kippur war in which Egypt and Syria waged a surprise attack against Israel that eventually was beaten back.

SNIPPET: On Saturday, Obama named the Texas-born, 31-year-old Indian-American as his envoy to the OIC, the 57-member bloc of Islamic states. The appointment is in line with the presidents goal, expressed in his speech in Cairo last June, to reach out to the Islamic world.
Obama made the announcement in a video address at a U.S.-Islamic World Forum meeting in Qatar, which Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Hussain attended over the weekend.
Rashad has played a key role in developing the partnerships I called for in Cairo, Obama told the gathering in the video message. And as a hafiz of the Koran, he is a respected member of the American Muslim community, and I thank him for carrying forward this important work. (A hafiz is someone who has memorized the Islamic text.)

TARIQ RAMADAN, MUSLIMS WANT RESPECT AND HUMIILITY (Obama read Ramadans script)
ANSAmed ^ | June 3 2009 | ANSA staff
Posted on June 4, 2009 9:55:36 PM PDT by bronxville
MIDEAST: TARIQ RAMADAN, MUSLIMS WANT RESPECT AND HUMIILITY
(ANSAmed) - ROME, JUNE 3 - According to the controversial Swiss intellectual and Islam scholar, Tariq Ramadan, a change in attitude and effective and necessary action, a real and profound message of respect but above all humility are what the Muslim world expects in the keynote speech that USA President Barack Obama will be making tomorrow in Cairo.
In a statement sent to the press via email, Ramadan underlines how Obama has found himself having to reverse the legacy left by George W. Bush and his administration, who did not show respect or fairness towards Muslims. Ramadan points out that, during his election campaign, Obama often had to repeat that he was not a Muslim, as if that would have posed a problem for the American people.
Thus, the first thing that can be expected is that, by talking to the Muslim world, he will also be talking to the US and the West. Ramadan confirmed that during the first few months of his presidency Obama has shown respect for Islam, announced the closure of Guantanamo and an end to torture, and adopted a firm stance against the Israeli government with regard to the building of settlements.
These are positive steps, but speeches are not enough. The USA does not have a monopoly on good and evil. Islam is a great civilisation and Obama must announce that we all have something to learn from each other. In stressing ideal values and calling for human rights,
Obama must also admit American mistakes, failures and contradictions in pursuing these aims, and he must show humility in acknowledging that the USA can and will do more in order to respect the values that they are calling for.
It is only in this way that he can say to Muslims that they must fight against corruption, fundamentalism, dictatorships, discrimination against women and poor people, and in order to be listened to with a minimum of trust.
Ramadan concluded that Obama must make it understood that after many years of deafness in Washington, he has finally listened. (ANSAmed).

Over the past two weeks there has been a series of security incidents in Cairo, including a bombing at the Khan el-Khalili on February 22 that resulted in the death of a foreign tourist, a stabbing at the Khan el-Khalili on February 27 resulting in the injury of an American citizen, and an incident with a Molotov cocktail on the Metro, on February 28, which did not cause any injuries. These events do not appear to be connected, but there is some indication that additional incidents are planned.
The Egyptian Government has visibly increased security levels in the downtown area, around major tourist sites and at public venues such as shopping centers. We advise Americans to take great care in visiting these sites, to remain strictly alert to their surroundings, and to practice good personal security measures. In the past, terrorist attacks have occurred at major tourist sites in Cairo, at the Khan, for example, but also at the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square, and the pyramids, as well as against tourist buses. Hotels in resort areas have also been targeted. Travelers should use caution when visiting destination resorts and hotels without significant physical setback and security procedures. Americans are encouraged to visit the U.S. Embassy in Cairo web site at http://cairo.usembassy.gov/ for the most up-to-date security information.
For the latest security information, Americans traveling abroad should regularly monitor the Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs web site at http://travel.state.gov, where the current Travel Warnings and Travel Alerts, as well as the Worldwide Caution, can be found.
In addition to information on the Internet, travelers may obtain up-to-date information on security conditions by calling 1-888-407-4747 toll-free in the United States and Canada, or outside the United States and Canada on a regular toll line at 1-202-501-4444. These numbers are available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday (except U.S. federal holidays).
American citizens are advised to maintain valid travel documents and register with the Department of State or the U.S. Embassy Cairo through the State Department travel registration website, https://travelregistration.state.gov. For further information, U.S. citizens may call the Embassys American Citizen Services Unit at 2797-2301 during business hours, Sunday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. For emergencies after business hours and on weekends and holidays, U.S. citizens can contact the Embassy Duty Officer via the Embassy switchboard on 2797-3300. That's sad. They think that by condemning the film, it will save them. To the muzzies, it's a sign of weakness.
Hey, Egypt! It's #3 at the American box office right now...ROTFLMAO at your rage and anger...(it was another movie though, wasn't it?)
Egypt wasn't lost.
It was handed to the Muslim Brotherhood by Obama.
At least it’s not a violation of sovereign soil.
BREAKING from DRUDGE:
An armed mob has attacked the US consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi and set fire to the building, witnesses reported, in what they said was a protest at a film they said offended Islam.
A little earlier, Libya’s deputy interior minister Wanis al-Shari, told AFP the crowd had attacked the building and that information was confirmed by the US embassy in the capital Tripoli.
My gosh. That's something new and unexpected!!
No doubt the Bamster will send them some more of our money to soothe their poor hurt feelings.
Muslims understand only one kind of diplomacy and that is FORCE!
ANYTHING else is considered weakness and will be exploited.

“9/11/2012: AMERICAN KILLED, CONSULATE BURNED, EMBASSY OVERRUN; U.S. APOLOGIZES”
by DANA LOESCH 11 Sep 2012, 4:18 PM PDT
SNIPPET: “An American has been killed on the 11th anniversary of 9/11 as Islamist mobs attacked and burned the U.S. consulate in Libya.
A US official was killed and another wounded on Tuesday as an armed mob protesting over a film they said offended Islam attacked the US consulate in Benghazi, an official told AFP.
Libya’s deputy interior minister Wanis al-Sharef said: “One American official was killed and another injured in the hand. The other staff members were evacuated and are safe and sound.””
SNIPPET: “It is so far the only death from mob attacks in Libya and Egypt over Islamist anger at an alleged film in production by Coptic Christians focusing on Islam.”
The Muslim dominated states have a centuries long history of murdering diplomats and looting of embassies. Iran murdered Russia’s Ambassador and nearly the entire staff of the Russian Mission in 1829. The assaults on a assortment of foreign embassies has continued and become more frequent since then. See for example the report from Foreign Policy:
Tehran’s embassies: Targets of popular rage since 1829
Posted By Uri Friedman.Posted By Uri Friedman Tuesday, November 29, 2011 - 7:31 PM.
http://blog.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2011/11/29/tehrans_embassies_targets_of_popular_rage_since_1829
Some of the latest news reports indicate Ambassador Stevens and his staff and U.S. Marines were betrayed to the Muslim mob by their own Libyan secirity detail.
I stay up till 2-3 every morning, and when I went to bed, it was still being reported that one American had died in Libya. Then I woke up this morning to the news of the murder of Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans. This is Jimmy Carter's administration all over again. When does the hostage taking start?
I also read on a link from Drudge that since 2009, security staffing has been lacking at our embassies, and that the State Dept. has been warned repeatedly about this shortage by Congressional oversight committees, and the State Dept.'s own internal watch-dog. Complaints were lodged that this State Dept. has regularly hired the cheapest security available. Of course the State Dept. claims lack of funding, which brings me back to Harry Reid and the rest of the Senate Democrats' failure to pass a Federal budget for almost 3 years. Am I being stupid in thinking that the lack of funding for the State Dept. to properly secure their embassies, and the resultant murders of Americans, can be directly linked to the failure of the Democrats to pass a budget? Now I'm not saying that this State Dept. would even bother to adequately provide security at those embassies, even if they had the money to do it, because as we all know, historically, the U.S. State Dept. has always been filled with nothing but wusses. I'm just wondering if some of the blame for what happened in Libya can't be tied to good old Harry Reid and the rest of the Dumbocrats.
Another thing that pissed me off about this, is that in the aftermath of 9/11, the Democrats attacked President Bush over an intelligence report that had been issued to the Clinton Administration, about the possibility of terrorists using planes. Bush was torn up one side and down the other in the press, for having this knowledge prior to 9/11 and not doing anything about it. Now, isn't it realistic to expect, that since this administration and State Dept. have repeatedly been forewarned about the lack of security at our embassies worldwide, that they should be attacked repeatedly for having this knowledge and not acting on it? Don't worry. I won't hold my breath waiting.
I got so incensed that I called my Republican Congressman and blew off steam to the person who answered the phone. It wasn't pretty. My only plea now is that those fellow Republicans, who are planning on sitting home on election day, take a long, hard look at what happened yesterday (and on 9/11), and realize that 4 more years of Obama will only bring more pain and suffering for this country and her citizens abroad.
Sorry if I've rambled on, but I'm pissed.
