General Motors sold a record number of Chevrolet Volt sedans in August but that probably isn't a good thing for the automaker's bottom line.
Nearly two years after the introduction of the path-breaking plug-in hybrid, GM is still losing as much as $49,000 on each Volt it builds, according to estimates provided to Reuters by industry analysts and manufacturing experts.
Obamanomics, losing money to save Detroit...
I guess they are forcing the Pentagon to buy up this crap. Nice.
This is Joe Biden’s example of economic success - losing tens of thousands of dollars per unit.
If this is what it means for GM to be “alive”...what about the other part of that slogan?
So why not lose 75,000/car instead, and make it affordable?
Heck, why stop there?
How about 90K / car subsidy?
I might even buy one. Just make it affordable.
What a terrible sick joke. Greta did just do about 3-4 minutes on this...same figures in the posted article.
At least this and Solyndra has the greenies pretty much shuttin’ up presently. But GOP needs to hammer on this.
Correction: Not saving Detriot. Saving the auto unions, which live to bite the hand that feeds them another day.
You people crack me up they are making it up by volume
lol
this actually makes me want to buy one of those pieces of crud!
make GM go under faster!
Where are you getting that from the content of the article? They are losing money big time.
I love watching Obama fail.
Notice that Mr. Obama doesn’t have a Chevy Volt type limousine that he rides around in? His automobile starts out as a truck and is modified to look like a Cadillac, with more armor than most light tanks and a pressurized interior, run-flat tires, world-class communications gear and much more. I’d be surprised if it gets 5 mpg. And he mocks Gov. Romney having a car elevator. Well, Mitt paid for that gizmo out of his own pocket, Mr. Obama gets everything paid for by us.
Eggsackly, my FRiend! These rubes just don’t understand Obamanomics. Why, just look at some great companies from the past - like Webvan, Pets.com, or eToys! They proved it doesn’t matter if you make any money so long as you make it up in volume...and look at how great the economy was then, Bill Clinton just bragged about it the other night!
Well we all know that the purpose of a company is to provide jobs and save the environment. Profits are evil. That is what we have been told for decades.
Lol!
