Insuring Pre-Existing Conditions is like offering post-crash car insurance.

Insuring Pre-Existing Conditions is like offering post-crash car insurance.

Correct! If "pre-existing conditions" are "covered" it is not insurance. Insurance is the pooling of risk amongst a group. A pre-existing condition equals no risk at all. The odds of a claim are 100%.

It is possible to "insure" what they call pre-existing conditions but because of the losses that specific pool of people would generate unaffordable premiums. What they are doing by poisoning the risk pool by adding people that will have a 100% chance of claims is simply increasing everyone else's premiums. It is soclalism. Further, one only has to look at the FEMA/NFIP model for so-called "flood insurance" to see where all this is going. Federal flood insurance is not insurance. It is a contract to pay financial losses in the event of a catastrophe. The contract is subsidized by the US Treasury. The Federal Flood Insurance program has never been solvent based on loss ratios (money in compared to claims paid). Every few years Congress funds the program with more money and forgives past debts owed. Federal Flood insurance is a rip-off for all taxpayers who do not have it because all taxpayers subsidize the people that buy it and have so-called "claims". There is a reason that the commercial insirance markets do no sell their own flood insurance, it is a loser, a big loser.

The bottom line is that the federal government has no business being in the business of any kind of insurance. Once politics get involved the politicians who are business morons will cover things they can't afford.

“Insuring Pre-Existing Conditions is like offering post-crash car insurance.”

...it’s like getting the “Pick 3” lottery numbers before buying the ticket. Buying flood insurance after the flood. Going to Vegas and waiting to see what your black jack hand is before laying down money. Going to the movies first, then paying if you liked it.

"Insuring Pre-Existing Conditions is like offering post-crash car insurance."

Romney said:"One is to make sure that those with pre-existing conditions can get coverage. "

That's not the same thing. Romney said he wants market-oriented solutions in health care. He never said he intends to force insurance companies to provide pre-existing coverage.

I haven't seen his plan, but if he offers to support setting up special (private) insurance companies who offer catastrophic coverage, even in cases with pre-existing conditions, maybe with special tax benefits, that would be fine with me and I think, most conservatives.

Romney-the-RINO is going to keep the Govenment-GOPE right where it's always been.....no different than all the Big Government Democrats, who live ONLY to decide how to spend taxpayers' earnings, and re-distribute it to maximize their job-retention-by-buying-votes lifestyle.

Count on it.

Buy your fire insurance ONLY after your house is on fire....."pre-existing condition".

If he keeps the touchy-feelie parts that poll well, but does away with the tax hikes and the cost braking effects of the Death Panels, he is gonna bankrupt the country EVEN FASTER than if this thing proceeds under Obama.

I see the pre-existing conditions being based upon having a condition that was covered under insurance and when one changes plans, requiring that condition to continue to be covered. Or to get it after having been a dependent and now is getting one’s own insurance. Example, my daughter who was hearing impaired at birth. Or my own having hip replacement while in the Army and requiring my post-military civilian insurance to include any future hip replacement surgery as part of the plan instead of saying “No insurance, it is a pre-existing condition.”

Versus Having a condition and trying to get it covered by insurance when one never had insurance before is like your getting insurance to pay for car repair after the accident.

Well maybe your right and maybe not. Some people are born with defects that need medical coverage. Not being a fan of insurance companies as I worked for some large ones , I have first hand knowledge of games they play. They are cold blooded crooks Some Of Them. Not all. Of course if your a member of the lucky sperm club an have the right parents none of that matters.
