Romney Says He Likes Parts of 'Obamacare'

"Of course there are a number of things that I like in health care reform that I'm going to put in place," he said in an interview broadcast Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press." ''One is to make sure that those with pre-existing conditions can get coverage."

Romney also said he would allow young adults to keep their coverage under their parents' health-insurance.

Those provisions have been two of the more popular parts of Obama's Affordable Care Act.

"I say we're going to replace Obamacare. And I'm replacing it with my own plan," Romney said. "And even in Massachusetts when I was governor, our plan there deals with pre-existing conditions and with young people."

Heck, just last week, there was a bunch of ABO folks who were actually promising that Romney had "evolved" and changed his views over time, and would govern as a Conservative.

Of course, they are no where to be found on this thread.

maybe someone here has a better idea how to make Mitt feel the heat.

Lots of people here do. Problem is, we've got too many people who can't be shifted from the idea of 'voting for the R' to listen.

Having a Pre Existing Condition is not an issue if you maintain your Insurance Coverage with no more than a 30 day period of being Uninsured.

I am 59 now. I have been paying for my own Health Insurance since I was 18 through my Employer. When I took early Retirement, I moved to my Wife's Health Insurance because it was cheaper than the Retirement Coverage offered by my previous Employer.

I contracted Leukemia two years after I Retired. Now that my Wife was laid off, we are paying $1300 a month for COBRA Coverage. If she finds a Job, the new Insurance Company cannot refuse to cover me since I have maintained my Insurance with no interruptions.

The way to fix the Pre Existing issue is for a Defined Risk Pool being established, just as Drivers with terrible driving records can get Assigned Risk Liability Policies on their Vehicles. The Insurance Pool is outside the regular Car Insurance System and Rates are determined within that specific group.

The problem that Liberals have is they want to change everything rather than focusing on the problem of a minority of participants. They pulled the same thing when the Medicare Drug Benefit was put together. President Bush wanted a plan to help poor Seniors, but the Democrats insisted on the Plan covering everyone, including Bill Gates. It is all about control and it is nothing about helping people. Making the simple complex if you will.

So people should go hungry, cold, and naked under your Brave New World but have access to health care subsidies? Where is your compassion of government expansion concerning these NEEDS?

We don’t have to rely on the article, a week or so ago he said he was proud of RomneyCare. At first Romney said he would give states a waiver from ObamaCare. Next he said he would repeal it. Then he said he would repeal and replace it. I have not heard him say what parts he would change only the parts he would keep. Are there any parts he disagrees with if so what? ObamaCare is also a financial issue what would he do about the effect on the economy? I guess we have to put him in office to find out what he is going to do.

Romney is a loser. He has made his contribution towards the death of our Republic by insuring the victory of “The Divine One.”

Yeah I too will vote for him knowing full well that under Romney government will continue to grow and we will still be headed to hell on earth. What a choice.

It's a Hobson's Choice. You get choice between pancreatic cancer or .45 slug to the temple.

I guess it's best to choose the cancer, since at least you get time to put your affairs in order.

Boo Hiss ! [/sarc]

I'd also add the ability to get health care insurance from any provider just like auto insurance.

Since the Primaries are over, you either Vote for the (R) or for the (D). If you Vote for anyone but the (R), you give the Election to the (D).

That is why we have Primary Elections, to hopefully get the (R) we would love to Vote for. Unfortunately, I didn’t convince enough people to Vote for my favorite (R) Mr. Gingrich and other Conservatives didn’t convince enough people to Vote for their favorite Candidate either.

Republican Voters made their choice in the Primaries, so we either support the (R) Candidate or Obama wins and the America we know and love is a goner.

There is nothing to argue about here, there are only two outcomes left to us. No brag, just fact.

Que sera, sera...

If you have an accident or condition that lands you in the hopital for a few days, you cover your investment. All insurance is a gamble.

Its a tougher decision here in Pennsylvania but I can’t bring myself to vote for more of the same old stuff in a Republican package.

I can vote for some other GOP candidates down the ticket like US Senate or PA Attorney General and I will.

But not for Romney.

Folks, this presidential election is a wash. I’ve been saying this for months and this is why I’m giving money to Congressional races and voting for Goode for president.

Because — seriously — Romney would be WORSE for America than Zer0.

Hear me out.

Many people, on FR and in-person, try to get me onboard: “Oh well. Looks like Romney’s our candidate. I’ll have to hold my nose and vote for him, like I voted for McCain.and all the other RINOs the GOP have shoved at us. After all, if he’s only 80-90% like Obama then he’s at least a little better than him, right?”

WRONG. and here’s why.

If Myth does 90% of what Zer0 does, he will do it WITH AN R NEXT TO HIS NAME.

What does this do? Well, Republicans in Congress who would otherwise balk at lib legislation if it were proposed by Zer0 WILL SIGN ON TO THE LEGISLATION BECAUSE IT IS PROPOSED BY THE LEADER OF THE GOP.

Imagine: Obamneycare 2.0, amnesty, “tax fairness”, gutting the military and so much more ALL SAILING THROUGH CONGRESS because a “Republican” is at the helm of America. Contrast this with a second Obozo presidency where the GOP will dig in their heels and at least try to fight.

Yeah, I said it. An Obummer presidency is better for America than a Myth presidency (in the way that a cowpie sandwich is better than a meal of broken glass). You think Ryan will make it better? Since when has a VP done ANYTHING to substantially change the nature of a Presidency? Be sure to give an example.

So. Here’s my deal. Fight like hell for a better Congress. Stick a fork in the Presidency for 2012, though... it’s DONE. I appreciate that my fellow FRiends may not agree. If you have a compelling argument against my logic, let me know.

I read that Romney "liked parts of Obamacare" and I nearly fell backwards out of my computer chair. My Cream of Wheat congealed in my stomach. Is he nuts?????

Is there NO way we can rid ourselves of America-hating Democraps and RINOs? Is Romney the BEST the GOP could come up with? I think they could have done a whole lot better, but they always pick a loser. First McCain and now this jerk who doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut.

I don't know about the polls, I suspect they are biased for the most part, but I heard on the radio this morning that OZero gained a few poll points now. I simply cannot believe that, confronted with the many destructive traitorous things OZero has already done, there exist dangerously stupid zombies who refuse to look up and smell the facts and who will eagerly vote for him again.

I found myself wishing there was a United States of Stupid for those libtards, and leave the rest of the nation alone for the sane.

Thank you for making my point...albeit backhandedly. My point was less about Romney and more that life does not happen in 30 second soundbites and cherry-picked quotes which is ALL you get from today’s so-called media...and most of what you get is the author’s slant and rampant speculation without any objectivity whatsoever. They say what they want you to see and hear. I say read the transcripts. Listen to the words in toto on youtube or somewhere. Don’t jump to conclusions by having someone else tell you what to think about ANYTHING. Especially when it comes from the left, which is what many on this thread have done.
In other words, think for yourself. It ain’t that hard to do.

I simply refuse to vote third party and give this election to obama who will appoint at LEAST two more justices to the Supreme court. If that happens, we are dead in the water. I will vote every single Conservative down ticket, but I will NOT chance another four years of obama, an avowed Constitution hater and enemy of America. I just won’t.
