Maybe our NIH will finally get started on this topic, and tell the DEA to stifle itself.

Bunk. The cops at the DEA know better and they say it has no medical use. Period. End of story.

As a person who has known several close relatives/friends who died of and survived cancer, I can say the effects are positive. Marijuana helps with the chemo sickness and weight loss. For those with terminal cancer, then addiction will not be a problem is it? They’re dying and only the most obtuse uncaring person would deny them whatever relief they can get. Marijuana does not have the side effects of powerful pain relievers where you don’t know what day it is or whom your family are. The positives outweigh the negatives.

It has been known for decades that cannabis helps ease the side effects of chemo, the other information is interesting.

Researchers also announced man is the cause of global warming, milk causes cancer and it takes a village to raise a child.... are we picking and choosing which researcher we believe?

Your immune system gets the munchies and eats the cancer cells.

Take a THC pill then.

There are 1000 chemicals in marijuana and I am sure that smoke in the lungs is so healthy.

so why is the actual pill which is ALREADY available. Potheads use this outlyer to justify recreational use.

If this was a legit actual proven medical use there is no need for pothead stores with a pretext. Doctors would perscribe it and it would be purchased at the pharmacy. (and there would be automatic license suspensions for those thus perscribed)

Medical marijuana already exists. It’s called Marinol.

A pharmaceutical product, Marinol, is widely available through prescription. It comes in the form of a pill and is also being studied by researchers for suitability via other delivery methods, such as an inhaler or patch.

“Legalized” medical pot is dangerous. Smoking marijuana results in ingesting toxic and carcinogenic ingredients; smoked pot contains more than 400 different chemicals, including larger doses of the hazardous constituents found in tobacco smoke.

The government has NO DAMN BUSINESS telling us what we may or may not ingest, smoke, inject, etc.

Our ancestors knew the Constitution wouldn’t allow Prohibition, so they passed an Amendment. (Then discovered that the PEOPLE wouldn’t allow it, either.)

So why is it any different with marijuana, cocaine, heroin, or any other substance you care to mention?

Whether YOU oppose something or not is inconsequential. The Constitution does not empower the government to ban anything, SO LEAVE IT ALONE AND LET US DECIDE FOR OURSELVES!!

I drive by several MMJ dispensaries on my commute. Almost everyone I see walking inside is a healthy looking young man.

I suspect the "medical" needs for MJ are bogus 99% of the time.

There is nothing new about this information.

In fact, it is the most probable reason for the “War on Drugs.”

Letting the many effective cancer cures become mainstream would bankrupt the pharmaceutical poison manufacturers.

The War on Drugs has been one of the biggest debacles in our nation’s history. It has been tremendously costly, has led to us having the world’s largest prison population, and has had spill over violence effects in other places all while failing to actually cure drug abuse. The fact that some so-called small government conservatives can continue to support it is beyond me.=

If you could ask anyone who died from cancer whether they would have liked to have had access to marijuana either to help treat the side effects, or if it could be used to directly treat the cancer, they wouldn’t have cared about any Puritan ethics regarding the drug, or who thinks it has what effect or how many cannibinoids or alkaloids it has, or if it is addictive. Like so many things, from Archaeology, to Physics, to Astronomy, we don’t know enough about anything to make empirical statements that are universal truths. Anything can become addictive - running, Facebook, eating, etc. It is all about how what we do appeals to the pleasure center in the brain. Marijuana use, by those who understand it, are mature and intelligent enough to use it responsibly, and enjoy it, should be allowed to use it and be non-regulated. Too many people want to impose their beliefs, morals, ethics, and fears on others because they don’t understand something completely themselves. Let humans make the decisions for themselves. And certainly, let those who are stricken with cancer decide if they want to allow themselves to be treated with something that might either ease their pain, or possibly even cure them. That should be their right, and no person or agency should have the power to regulate that.
