I’ve proofread your column several times. I couldn’t find any spelling or grammatical errors. Maybe my eyes are failing me.

Me too. TV can be a great educational tool, if used properly. We are no longer an audience “captive” to what the 3 major networks air.

They put this crap on TV and then say that this is what their audience demands. BS

Hey now!

Being from New Jersey, I hardly think flyover country has the exclusive on gawker type shows. “Jersey Shore”, “Housewives of New Jersey”, the crazy bakery guy. I pass by the “Jerseylicious” saloon at least 3 times a week! Though I’ve never seen the show, it’s done wonders for the strip mall it’s located in.

And all the recent Jersey infatuation started with a scripted show, “The Sopranos”.

Of course, our current Governor does what he can to keep the New Jersey mystique alive and well around the country!

"Is Honey Boo Boo A Scam?"

The instrument has yet been invented that can measure accurately my lack of "giving a shit" about this particular "reality" show.

"We have been geocaching,"

We just started in June! Love it! It made our trip to New Orleans like an adventure. The Geocache "View Carre" was the highlight of our trip!

You might be surprised to discover that Tennessee is NOT the deep South. In my household, we have hardwood and carpeted floors, granite counter tops and indoor plumbing. Oh yeah! a freezer that is not on the front porch, and that is filled with food that a man with multiple degrees from institutions of higher learning went out and HUNTED. I also lived in Southern California for 26 years and know what snobs that they can be. Before you jump me on my grammer I was educated in California schools.

I wish we had turned our tv off 20 years ago.

We did 30 years ago. We bought a fancy new one 5 years ago, but quickly got tired of it. It's somewhere in our junk room. My life is more fun than TV. Do I miss pro sports? No.

Yeah, but they are covering up your dirt floors...and you probably still have to hand pump your water from your outside well ...to flush your indoor plumbing...and brush your tooth... /S

I read her comment and thought what a bunch of condescending bovine...

In our home you will not find televised programming. No Nightly News (or as some would say-Nightly sNewz), no game shows, no DIY, no infomercials or reality TV. I’ll admit that there are some drawbacks. No golf, no Olympic coverage, no football, baseball, or basketball. There’s no live coverage of any sporting events, but these drawbacks are of little consequence. On each and every occasion in which we travel, and are provided with the opportunity to sit in our hotel rooms and stare at the one-eyed monster, my family and I are reminded of why we dumped televised programming in the first place many years ago.

Same case here, except since i have never heard of honey boo boo maybe a little longer.

Michelle Obama hasn’t taken this overweight child ‘in hand’ yet? Obviously she needs the “Let’s Move” program. Maybe Honey Boo Boo & the Wee Wons could all have a pajama party at the WH with arugula roll-ups & fat-free milk for snacks. I would imagine the parents drink beer .... Barry could have a little beer-drinking get-together showcasing the new WH brews and explain all the ways Honey Boo Boo & her folks can be helped by the government. It would probably help his ratings with white men of the redneck persuasion. /s

We still have TV and satellite. And we don’t know who Honey Boo Boo is. We do find it less and less interesting though, mostly watching series on Netflix. I still keep it because I enjoy watching Nascar and other sports live. Periodically I tune in to watch the media covering national events: weather, etc. But even then, more and more, I am heading back to coverage on the internet; so many station have live streaming coverage of events anymore.

Have to see how this fall goes, may be cheaper to get rid of the TV and just subscribe to those interests I like online.

All “reality TV” is a scam.

True dat. Made it a point to watch Bait Car. Several times the so-called 'perp' had a huge grin on his face, the sort of grin that was like, "Look at me, ma! I'm on the TEE VEE."

Because in a real arrest, the perp is ALWAYS smiling. FAIL.

Then there is Lizard Lick Reposession. In several episodes, they've been shot at. Because camera people JUST HAPPENED to be there during Felony Assaults, and the cameramen are NEVER targeted (even though they manage to get a close up of the gunman IN HIS SNIPER NEST) and cops are NEVER called when you are shot at, no, you just come back at night for your car.

Uh huh.

Made a believer out of me.

Eh, I love TV too. Mostly we watch cooking shows. Hubby cooks, not me! The shows inspire him, amazingly - they really do.

Yeah, i got to enjoying cooking a few years back but then i noticed among several other things my wife kind of acting Superior, but when she started referring to me as hubby that was the last straw.

I crawled out from under the house after repairing a big sewer problem, came in the house and started cooking with out washing my hands.

I don,t know why but my wife has not given me a chance to show my stuff in the kitchen since.

Give some one an inch and they will take a mile, so i took it back.

We dumped ours three years ago when the price jumped to 60.00 a month. Got a Roku and an antenna. We watch Judge Judy, Nova, Create tv and the morning news to see the weather.

Here’s a story for you. Last month, during the Olympics, we couldn’t get the online content unless we had the NBC package. SO my hubby popped cable into the house. 90.00! My kids sat one day and watched ‘their shows’ (Avatar and some other kiddie stuff). That was it, one day. They just weren’t that into it. The older one actually read, the younger one drew the characters on the screen.

Dropped it and won’t go back.

I don’t watch television, though I DO watch a lot of movies via Netflix, iTunes or DVD.

TV literally sickens me, shows like “Modern Family” (which my wife loves) and such. I hear there is a new show coming out called “The New Normal” which is probably a descriptive title of what agenda they are likely pushing.

I haven’t watched more than five minutes of a news broadcast since 9/11, and before that, it was the early Nineties.

People seem to have an obsession with things like CNN, where they have it on constantly as background noise. I think it is unhealthy, and besides, I have no need or desire to hear repeated talk for months on end about some woman in California who killed her child and buried it in her back yard, or a party girl who went missing in Aruba.

I know there is sickness in society, I don’t need to have it hammered into me repeatedly.

There are very few shows on TV I watch, but I do like Mysteries from the Museum. They tell the history of objects in museums around the country, which involves telling details about an event it was involved in. Like the sinking of the Titanic, Amelia Earharts disappearance, or sometimes events you never heard of.

My husband likes to watch the Cajun guys that hunt alligators or crocodiles, I can never distinguish between them. I have often thought how the elite must view us hicks after seeing these shows, but I also think it's funny as heck how many leftist actors and actresses are not working on sitcoms due to reality TV and how that must tick them off.
