Other commentators see the problem as something even worse - 'crab bucket' syndrome - wherease if you have a bucket of crabs and one figures out how to climb out of the bucket, the others will pull it back in.

That's a very good analogy too. I'll have to remember that.

They don't 'get it', they are wearing 'color blinders' and do not apparently know anything about the underlying fiscal crisis looming on the horizon, the lowest food stocks in modern times, and how the retail supply chain works...

Apparently they just took the easy 'intellectual' route and assumed the race card needed to be played, even as their grocery money only buys 80% of what it did last year.

I have been in a grocery store in the last year and seem empty shelves, just from demand being ahead of the stockers. Prices will spike if the supply is interrupted, then the looting will begin, and regardless of who doesn't have enough money to feed their kids, they'll feel justified, especially with all the class warfare crap bantered about in the last year--even though most store owners don't own the stock--it's fronted by the franchise and they get a cut for selling it.

When there is nothing left to loot, then things will get really ugly.

Tsunamis don't have much amplitude in the open ocean, so they are easy to ignore...but when they sound in shallow water, the wave stacks up and all hell breaks loose.

The wonkette crowd completely missed the point.

Thanks, though for the tactical tips. I pray we never need them, but it's good to file away.

Two years ago the Texas legislature passed a law that all water systems and water treatment plants had to install diesel genersators sufficient to run them during a big disaster without interruption. They are all in place now so we will have running water. Period.

The diesel runs out in 10 days tops. Then what?

Yep. We try to warn them, and they scream insults.

“The stores have always been restocked, so the stores will always be restocked.”

A fatal case of normalcy bias about to happen.

“More diesel tankers will come. How do I know? Because more diesle tankers have always come. Therefore, they shall always come.”

It’s easy when you try.

You're welcome. Here's a clearer look at some of the real faces of post-default rioters.

Greek police block riot police in anti-austerity protest
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2927669/posts

Same in Argentina. There, they also helped their bureaucratic comrades pull off robberies and kidnappings against residents after debt repudiation, during the currency adjustment period.

Here, in US politics, they and their many friends with government incomes/customers are trying to divert from programs like food stamps to their anti-competition regulatory, government education and other offices of control against the small remainder of the private sector.

The federally funded, local government employees have already thrown a few limp-wristed tantrums against spending cuts in places like Wisconsin and California. Same with their trust fund baby organizers of OWS displays of spoiled rottenness. Some laid off, formerly middle class government employees have already been seen in robbery attempts--a phenomenon that will be more common and noticeable. It's not from their being impoverished but from the way they were reared to act by their spoiled parents...same way they acted in offices and politics before.

The best time will come after the bond collapse here: something to look forward to. Government can't stay big, overbearing and fat without valuable, sustainable revenues from a big manufacturing base (real work). Small government will be inevitable, and the anti-competition regulations and family-busting, unenforceable.

Have fun. Enjoy the other end of the slide. I know that I will.

Agreed. After giving thanks and repenting, I’ve prayed for justice and continue to do so.

Where can I read “What I saw at the Coup”?

(I have been horribly busy and can barely make it on FR more than a few minutes here and there. I want to make sure I read all the good stuff.)

Thanks for the clarification. I was out digging at WRSA and doing searches. I did come across a worthwhile essay as a result, so it wasn’t a waste of time.

Four Days in May: What I Saw at the Coup

It is an interesting article that touches on some of the roots of how our country is where it is.

One recurrent theme among Leftist commentators is "those nasty white guys will soon be a minority themselves".

What they don't take into account is that the nasty white guys supply the tax revenue that funds the benefits that allows the underclass to have a high birth rate. And that model is at its breaking point.

The essence of your scenario is that we are close to that breaking point, where the middle class can no longer support the weight of the Welfare State and its associated civil-service class, and will have no choice but to shrug it off.

I’ve recently started reading “The Black Swan”.

In it, the author describes the life of a turkey on a poultry farm.

Every day, the turkey wakes up, eats, wanders around, gobbles at the other turkeys, (repeat as required) and eventually goes to sleep.

Next day, same thing.

On and on. Sweet life.

Until the day the farmer comes out and, instead of feeding the turkeys, cuts their heads off.

From Rudyard Kipling, at the vantage point of 1919:

In the Carboniferous Epoch we were promised abundance for all,
By robbing selected Peter to pay for collective Paul;
But, though we had plenty of money, there was nothing our money could buy,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: “If you don’t work you die.”

Those wonkette’s won’t change their thinking one iota even as they see the flames in front of them. It will be their last thought as they are clubbed on the back of the head. The lucky ones will die on the spot.
