By Mr. Curmudgeon:
Are you feeling lucky? Well, are you, punks? Inspired by Clint Eastwood's Republican Convention soliloquy to an empty chair, representing the vacant years of the Obama presidency, many have been inspired to emulate Eastwood by declaring Monday (formally known as Labor Day) "Empty Chair Day."
As you may recall, the action hero of such film classics as "Dirty Harry" and "The Outlaw Josey Wales" used an empty chair as a prop to address our failed president. "We own this country," Eastwood said to the chair, "Politicians are employees of ours ... and when somebody does not do the job, we've got to let them go."
And Eastwood's idea has caught on.
I saw a photo posted on the Internet that shows a lone chair sitting on a front lawn. On it rests a sign that reads, "Labor Day has been cancelled due to lack of jobs. Monday is now Empty Chair Day. Put an empty chair in your front yard. Thank you, Clint, for bringing this to our attention."
On Facebook, a graphic artist took inspiration from Frank Shepard Fairely's iconic 2008 Obama poster, emblazoned with the word "Hope," and substituted a chair where the president's face once beamed ... oh, and the word "Chair."
In yet another contribution, a photo shows an empty chair with an empty suit dangling nearby.
So, go ahead, make Clint's day ... Empty Chair Day.

Get off our lawn!
LOL !!
"Hey - where'd he go?"
"Look - over there! Is that him?"
"Nah. He's wearin' clothes."
I have my chair out on the front lawn by the sidewalk. Having problems with Photobucket so no picture.
That’s great! I wanted to post and “Empty Chair Barbie,” but there isn’t a Barbie in the house. Is that Sarah Palin? ;)
We put our chair out. Of course, we live on a cul de sac out in a semirural neighborhood fairly off the beaten path.
