But has Howie ever listened to a tape of his own pontifications? He cannot complete a thought, let alone the show’s telephone number. He’s the poster boy for Attention Deficit Disorder.

Howie is a loveable little fuzzball in his own right, but he cannot string together two thoughts while talking.

OK, Howie may not be the most articulate, "silver-tongued" radio host going, but as a regular listener, I would not exactly go as far as you in making him out to be bordering on "duncehood!"

An for the most part, he is mostly Conservative and takes great pleasure is skewering the Lib Pols in Taxachussetts as well as throughout the country.

Hope he gets (and I think he will) a National syndicated show when his gig with WRKO is up in 2 years. PS: For a "local yokel" he manages to get many nationally recognized, notable guests to appear on his show.

agreed. I don’t know if he’d get a national gig or not; talk radio in general appeals to an aging demo, but then again the likes of Rush can earn big bucks. Maybe Howie can get some fill in gigs for some shows (in the past he’s gone on KFI in LA via ISDN). Suppose for example he signs with WTKK in 2 yrs; they could have him do 2 hours of national and 2 of local. Who knows.

I know this goes back over 20 years but I remember listening to Jerry Williams and it would delight me when I’d hear him fill in: “Good afternoon New England, this is Howie Carr of the Herald and I’m filling in for the Dean today.” Jerry was a legend but I preferred Howie—Jerry was good, Howie even better.
