Team Obama promises it will fill every one of the seats in Charlotte’s mammoth football stadium Thursday night when President Obama closes the Democratic National Convention with a speech accepting his party’s nomination.
For weeks, Democrats have been concerned about filling Bank of America Stadium, home to the NFL’s Carolina Panthers. They feared a devastating image of an enthusiasm gap if Obama spoke to empty upper decks at the venue.
But the Obama campaign says it’s got it covered, and that all 73,778 of the stadium’s seats will be spoken for. The campaign also insists this success will showcase a ground operation that will help Obama win North Carolina for a second cycle in a row this November. “We’re confident we’ll be full,” Jen Psaki, the traveling Obama press secretary, told The Hill late last week. “We have a great ground operation in North Carolina and we’ve registered more voters than any other state.
“Our goal is to leave North Carolina better than we came in,” Psaki added.

I heard that seating capacity was close to 78,000 and that the stadium is open air.
They will fill the half of the stadium not draped in a black curtain. That, or people will be paid to attend. Just like Occupy.
Ugh. If North Koreans made such a hideous sculpture of their own “Dear Leader” Kim Jong Un, they would be executed. Honest opinion. That looks like crap.
No “empty chairs,” right?
About 10am Thursday morning they will announce an “emergency” due to expected thunderstorms. They will also announce an alternate venue some place that will be packed if 10,000 people show up.
SEIU buses will truck in folks from miles around to fill the venue.

Any event that features any POTUS/VPOTUS/FLOTUS is a royal pain. SS insists each person requesting a ticket submit his/her SS# for a quick check; then they issue a ticket so you can stand in line for two hours before getting through security so you can wait another 2 hours for the ‘star’ to appear. Then it’s an hour or so to empty out of the stadium and get to your car. Takes a LOT of enthusiasm to go thru all that.
Then he’ll get his attendees from Skid Row.
You know what would be cool is if about 20,000 patriots got tickets, went to the speech, and just sat on their hands. Adding that to the luke-warm enthusiasm of his base right now might produce some enlightening audience non-response.
