As a performer, as a stand-up comedian for 30 years who knows how hard it is to get laughs, excuse me, he went up there
without a net, on a tightrope. There was no teleprompter. He did a bit with just an empty chair and killed, Maher said. He committed to it, it was consistent and it worked.

I hope enough are fed up enough to help get out the opposition vote - calling, helping get folks to the polls, etc.
We may not survive another round of him and his minions - not to mention his wife who thinks (erroneously) that she's another Jackie Kennedy!
Ilinois is a lost cause no matter what.
It’s only when they bus the votes to Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin that it’s a problem.
You are an idiot. Eastwood killed Obama. That’s why all your fellow RAT idiots are trashing Clint.
Actually, he was delivering it just as the original actor (Jimmy Stewart) did.
Except Jimmy Stewart was talking to the invisible rabbit Harvey, while Clint was talking to an invisable pResident.
Even more proof to me Eastwood trolled all of us and was a plant.
******************************************************************
The way the mainstream media, Democrats and certain FReeper posters are reacting, I think they sense that Eastwood was a hit AND EFFECTIVE. He certainly got under the Messiah’s skin.
Do have some degree of practice at trolling and being a plant?
He killed it? I don’t think so, but what would this idiot Maher know about being funny.
If Eastwood had not been performing in front of an audience who wanted so much to cheer him on, he probably would have been booed.
He pulled it out at the end, but, lordy, it was painful to watch. What’s more, it did not have to be that way. He had all sorts of help at his disposal.
Teleprompter or no, what professional performer would not go in with back up notes?
I found it painful to watch.
However, the net effect was good. And I do, BTW, have an empty stool out on the front lawn, next to my Romney lawn sign.
I was scrolling down through the comments on this thread and came to yours. What a sad day for you. I hope you have people to help you through the grief.
Thanks for asking. I try not to read anything about this crass person and would not have read through the article if you hadn’t posted to me.
I was talking about the first part, where he gave Eastwood “props”. It did make me suspicious and now I realize why. He was setting up his usual vulgar putdown routine for anyone who disagrees with him.
There’s a reason I try to avoid these threads. I feel like I stepped in a huge pile of maher and will never be able to scrape it off my shoe.
I was looking for that!
No one with good sense in Hollywood is going to get on the bad side of Clint Eastwood....not even in support of the Kenyan!!!
Clints spot gave Mitt a net 16pct increase of the undecideds. I bet barry doesnt want anymore “plants/trolls” like Clint lol
You may want to see post 79. Jimmy Stewart wrote a very touching poem about his dog Beau and read it out on The Johnny Carson Show. There was not a dry eye in the country that night. : (
Sorry to hear about your dog.
He multi-tasks.
Instead he created an unforgettable metaphor for the entirety of the Obama presidency and struck a nerve that made every Liberal in America wince in pain and outrage. All with a smile and in the halting cadence of a wise elder best known for sending bad guys to their reward with a hand cannon and most recently for shooing low lifes off his lawn with an M1 rifle.
And you just know that they (or at least the designated "Intellect of the Democratic Party") won't be able to resist the temptation to mention his performance in the most disparaging terms possible at this week's convention, thus reinforcing the image countless times.
It took me a little bit longer. About half way through, when he was talking about bringing the troops back home tomorrow, and said: “We’ll have to have a little chat about that,” it occurred to me - Wow, he’s doing Jimmy Stewart.
