Go watch the clip again. Theres nothing jokey or witty or clever about it. Its a straightforward accusation of racism and callousness, and of course one of the other schmucks there laughs because hes a nasty liberal hack too whos thinking the same thing. Its a laugh of recognition, and maybe a bit of surprise that Chalian would be willing to say that with mics around.
So heres his attempt to make himself employable again:
I am profoundly sorry for making an inappropriate and thoughtless joke. I was commenting on the challenge of staging a convention during a hurricane and about campaign optics. I have apologized to the Romney campaign, and I want to take this opportunity to publicly apologize to Gov. and Mrs. Romney. I also regret causing any distraction from the exceptional coverage of the Republican convention by Yahoo News and ABC News.
If you believe that he was making a neutral comment about convention optics, you also need to believe that he would have said the same thing if Democrats had been holding their convention this week. Show of hands: Anybody?
I need to make way for MKH, Erika, and Jazz as tonights convention live-blogging begins, but in honor of the medias all racism, all the time strategy to distract from whats happening at the podium, Ill leave you with this (via the Washington Free Beacon). Are you one of those millions of voters who find Obama irritatingly professorial and aloof, an Ivory Tower liberal if ever there was one? Well, turns out the GOPs got a master plan to convince you that hes not that guy at all but rather some sort of sex-crazed wildman, per archaic racial stereotypes. And the way theyre going to do this is to compare him to Tiger Woods. But rather than directly compare him to Woods, theyre simply to going to mention that he golfs a lot and let you draw the necessary connecting lines. Obama > golf > Tiger > lots of sex > racism. Two things to watch here. One: At the start, at least, Martin Bashir is actually the voice of reason. Think about that. Turn that idea over in your mind for a few seconds. Martin Bashir is now the sane, sober guy on MSNBC. Two: By the end of the clip, it sounds like ODonnell thinks theres an explicit reference to Woods in McConnells speech, to the point where hes talking about speechwriters brainstorming over it. But Bashir never quotes anything about Woods. He only quotes a reference to the PGA tour. Its ODonnell who supplies the Woods reference and then convicts McConnell of racism for it. Youll never find a better microcosm of left-wing dog whistle analysis.
He really is “sorry”.
A “joke” my ass..this is exactly what Commies feel, he is just sorry he got caught.
An apology is not sufficient. Idiot needs to find a new career.
You weren’t making a “joke” dufus, you were being a racist pig.
Now he can become a productive member of society and aid the economy with his unemployment check.
He is only sorry he got caught. It’s the culture at Yahoo.
What the bleep is wrong with those people?
Buh-bye you two-faced scumbag! Watch out for the doorknob!
Not only a Lib zealot but a coward too. Come on. Man up and admit that you meant it. Don’t act like a pre-schooler blaming everyone else for breaking the cookie jar.
I'll bet Chalian got a call from the White House with a job offer.

Seems his “joke” went over well with those in the room. They all giggled. And if there were any men in the room, you couldn’t tell by their laughter.
Local supermarket, Rouses, reported record alcohol sales the day before Isaac started affecting the city. Family and friends have decided to 'hunker down' together and are having their own hurricane parties. One of the many drinking games involves taking a drink or a shot when the media uses the words hunker down.
Just another lie from another Left winger who went to the same “How to Lie and Get Away with it” class as the rest in politics and the media today. It is getting soooo boring and predictable. Wonder which chapter in their book of “Fibs to Fool Fools” this lie is from?
I'm still glad to see him gone. Good riddance.
He is only saying that because that is what Romney said about his BC joke. He is bitter and angry that he got caught, period!
