Removing the microstamp might be as illegal as removing the serial number from the receiver.

What about normal wear? Would that gun now be illegal without the stamp? How would you know it's worn off? Would you have to have it inspected by the 'authorities'? The idea just sucks anyway you look at it.

New York Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel, a Democrat and the chief sponsor of the microstamping legislation

The woman is an idiot. BUT she is an idiot ELECTED BY THE MAJORITY OF THE VOTERS IN HER DISTRICT. She accurately represents the viewpoints of the majority of the voters in her district. If she didn't she would not have been elected.

Think about her as the symptom and think of New Yorkers in general as the disease. It isn't an accident that ultra left liberal tyrant wannabes are elected in such numbers in NY. The majority of New Yorkers WANT to be enslaved, and what's worse, they want the rest of enslaved too. New Yorkers are like plague rats. They befoul everything they touch and spread their plague of liberalism wherever they go.

Look at Florida. New Yorkers move to Florida in droves to escape the high taxes, excessive regulation, and high unemployment there, but they take their attitudes and voting patterns that directly caused the high taxes, excessive regulation, and high unemployment with them. The NY immigrants to the sunshine state between 2000 and 2008 were enough to add another 100,000 0bama votes in the last election and are probably going to add even more this election.

I loath New Yorkers for what they do to the rest of us.

“Would you have to have it inspected by the ‘authorities’? “

Good question! This is after all a registration scheme.

The gangbangers with their Lorcin semi-autos will be right quick to shift to a microstamped piece, and they’ll go down to the precinct house to get them checked.

Microstamp all you want. All it takes is 2 seconds with an emory cloth to undo what the microstamp accomplishes. Do these politicians think that criminals have never heard of either emory cloth, or a dremel tool?

Or just pick up your spend cartridges!

And who is really behind this law?

The Patent holders. They hope to make millions by forcing gun owners to buy guns using their technology.

Who's to say that you removed the microstamp? Maybe your shot a lot of shells, or you inserted a metal "dummy" shell that had a primer that was much harder than the primer used in acutal shells? The microprint will wear, just like any other metal part of a gun.

Many people use the metal "dummy", to check to see if they are flinching or jerking the gun - shooting live rounds, then hitting a "dummy" is a good indicator as to your shooting style. Some of those dummy rounds are just bullet shaped chunks of iron. I can see demand for iron dummies becoming more prevalent.

No surprise there..... What a bunch of gun owners do not realize is Cerabus Capital worked a tax credit to move Bushmaster Firearms from Maine to NY, Ilion to be exact.

Cerabus took the tax credit of 15M and applied it to the wall st side of the company, and will have Freedom Group move the entire Remington facility once the tax credit expires next year while blaming the anti-gun politicians. It is the tax credit ending, not necessarily the anti-gun mentallity behind the move. Dis-honestly and less than truthful tax dollar manipulation at the corporate level. Far too much government and corporate b*llsh*t with tax dollars. So be mindful of how the masses are manipulated. Follow the money... read the annual reports and small print.

Good point, Hodar.

I’m sure ATF will understand that you only accidentally removed the microstamp.

Hmm, if this goes through, will owners of legit non-microstamped guns be accused of removing the stamp that was never there?

My personal favorite comment about this is:

By the time they make a viable, undefeatable microstamping firearm we'll already have been into years of ownership of phased plasma rifles in the 40 watt range or M41A pulse rifles firing 10mm caseless projectiles.

lol We are almost at the stage of having electromagnetic guns that have the punch of a .22. Not handheld, but with a backpack of electronics and a ton of Li polymer batteries.

Don’t forget that, in order for microstamping to work, you have to compell gun owners to REGISTER their gun, and RE-REGISTER any transfer of ownership.

And, of course, as long as they are compelling registration of those guns, they might as well compell you to register all your other guns as well.

It just gets worse -- the plague rats decide Florida is too hot/muggy and move a little north spreading the metastasis to places like North Carolina. Hence "half-backs" as a name for the plague rats.
