Romney officially clinches nomination at condensed GOP convention

Mitt Romney officially clinched the GOP presidential nomination on Tuesday to move a step closer in his five-year quest for the White House.

To roaring cheers at the Republican National Convention in the packed Tampa Bay Times Forum, the delegation from New Jersey put Romney above the 1,144-delegate threshold, ensuring he will be the GOP challenger against President Barack Obama in November.

Earlier, the 2,200-plus convention delegates approved a conservative platform that called for less government, opposed same-sex marriage and endorsed a "human life amendment" to ban abortion with no specific exceptions for cases of rape, incest or when the mother's life is threatened.

Romney and his running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, will be formally nominated on Thursday, and Romney's acceptance speech that night will conclude the convention that had its agenda delayed by Hurricane Isaac.

With the storm churning toward landfall in Louisiana, Republican officials appeared determined to stick to a tightened three-day schedule that kicked into full gear on Tuesday with official business and speeches accusing Obama of failed leadership and undermining the American dream...

All that I can see is Bush looking into the camera and giving Conservatives a “chin wave” and saying, “See you at the signing”. That was over his rovian plan for amnesty. He never used that pen. He also NEVER secured the borders.

This Ohioan will put on a gas mask and vote for R&R, because I can’t stand the thought of 4 more years of the current POtuS and his America-hating regime.

I will also be voting for Romney. At one time I swore I would not. Then Chief Justice Roberts decided the Constitution was no longer valid law and overturned it.

From that point, I realized that no matter what, no matter who, 0bama HAS to go. If Romney is the guy, then so be it. It’s really a not a difficult decision.

Thanks for the ping.

Falsely referring to fellow conservatives as “Conservatives for Obama” is a *certain* strategy to coax them to “come back to the plantation to work for massa” and to ensure that others aren’t inclined to stray from the fold.

Of course, if your intention is to continue to drive people away from your (claimed) desired outcome, then by all means continue.

put Romney above the 1,144-delegate threshold,

That is not enough for Mr Romney. He things he deserves a unanimous acclimation of love for him, his wife, his kids, his grand kids, his father, his mother, his grand parents, his great great grand parents, his great great great grand parents..... And with the help of god and the rules committee he will get it in four years.

You have attempted to box God into supporting only one of the two candidates from the DemoRepublican party.

He’s not a tame God, you know.

And you do realize if Obama wins, the theologicxal implications of your statement?

And the meaning of Issac is laughter! Not that a godless 'bishop in a cult' would know that or care but I do!

Anyone sitting out this election claiming ideological purity is actively aiding Obama. That’s the fact.

WHO is claiming ideological purity? I want to see these facts you speak of.

What is more offense to you GOD or godless?

The GOP/Mitt has done more FOR OBAMA than ANY voter can! That's a FACT!!

"And “him or us” isn’t “lesser of two evils”. He has to go. Period."

~~~~~~~~~~
Right on!
I expect there are millions of us genuine Americans who have realized that getting rid of the anti-American traitor would justify far more aggressive actions than simply voting for the RINO/liberal Romney or his dumb@$$ party.
I devoutly hope that the quasi-Americans who are turning their yellow tails and abandoning the fight by withholding their vote for "reasons of principle" come to their senses -- lest need for those "other actions" be thrust upon us all...
Grow up, kiddies!!!
You mean Chief INjustice Roberts, sadly there is nothing that can ever be done about that Injustice in federal elections. If Bush couldn’t even appoint honest federal “judges” which in this case seems to include anyone not in love with boundless federal power, Mitt has no chance.
We can’t claim the Federal injustice system with a 50% success rate even if we could win all the elections. I just don’t see any solution to the problem Injustice Roberts created and reviled short of revolution.
I’d vote for mitt so at least you can say you voted and demonstrate that the franchise has failed to protect your rights.
Where we are now is a state of injustice which (whether simply confirmed or imposed by the Federal Injustice John Roberts) has reduces our originality free Constitution republic to the self-destructive despotism of a democracy.
I say self-destructive despotism, because as we know from history, and as our forefathers warned every democracy murders itself. It is simply a matter of time in democracy before people are preswated to vote away each others in favor of invariably ever expanded government power until nobody really has any at all.
Invariably the power of the State and the dependency of the people ever more enslaved to the same grows to such a point that the leaders of said state are in a position to obtain and retain a form of permanent power.(dictatorship and/or oligarchy)
Over time the same “Government” becomes so secure in their position and the people so uses to the order of things that they don’t even bother to carry on elections of any kind.
The point I’m trying to make here is this is already the path of the Federal Government of theses united States. We can’t really change that path. As John Roberts made clear with his edict it is as you say “written it into stone”.
But most importantly of all is the state of our people who over the last 100+ years become so ignorant of the nature of freedom, and been so Seduced by the envious message of big government(steal from the rich to feed yourself) that we have already started down that spiral.
The united States at least as a is doomed. Yes there are large segments of our population still attached to traditional american ideals and virtues, still willing to work hard and live only by the fruits of their own labor. But that population is shrinking as it is taxed into the ground and suppressed in future generations by what is ironically largely government run & sponsored schools.
Meanwhile the parcites grow in both number & demand upon this striking group.
Logically the answer to this problem is separation/secession/revolution. To force the parasitical bit of the population to carry their own weight, before they completely crush us with its burdens.
There are of course a wide number of problems with implementing any solution of the sort, starting with Lincoln’s example in 1861. So short of that we are left only to wait until our civilization collapses under the burden. That of course could take a long time, as the intermedeite step is dictatorship and corrupt “loopholes” for powerful & favored companies who insolently by the same virtue become entrenched.
I read this today at Market-ticker.org, and I’m shocked though not surprised. (I do not watch television: cannot afford it.)
So, is it true? And if true, it portends very dark days ahead for all of us.
“Listening to the announcement of delegates for the candidates, from the podium they are omitting any votes for other than Mitt Romney.”
Now why would that be at a convention? Romney has won the nomination; why be petty? This, to me, is indicative of a very disturbed personality.
“But not all the votes are for Mitt Romney. Ron Paul and Rick Santorum have some votes.”
The above is factual, and those votes should have been voiced.
“They’re being intentionally ignored. Not counted and then announced that he didn’t win, ignored as if they never happened.”
“Think about that folks. Votes cast, votes counted...and...they’re gone.”
“If this isn’t the declaration of an imperial movement I don’t know what is. You hold elections, you count ballots, you announce winners. Yes, I know Mitt Romney is going to win the count, but the fact is that the other votes were cast and do count.”
You’re right - the choice before us is stark.
Both BH02 and Mitt Romney are sick SOBs, but Romney is OUR sick SOB!
How so? I thought they came to an agreement on the rules.
Actually, from the sound of the voice vote it appeared as though Boehner ignored the majority who voted against adopting the rules and then he declared them passed anyway. It sounds like a division was called for but that may have been ignored as well.
Through these, tyrannical new rules, the Republicans have for the first time in the party's history given the RNC and the Republican nominee the power to unilaterally change the rules of the GOP any time they want without even consulting the delegates of the National Convention. This new found power can thus be used to silence the grassroots so long as the all powerful RNC bosses decide that the delegates shouldn't be heard.
And yet you chose not present information, you chose to call me an Obama propagandist.
They are like parrots, they only speak what they are taught. I can call them that because that's how they act. Voting for a godless liberal has left them 'empty'. All they can fill up on now is lies - they discarded everything else.
