I blame Jenny Granholm.

Volcanoes? In the Imperial Valley? At the south end of the Salton Sea, southwest of Mullet Island, are five small volcanic domes. They are oriented along a northeast trend, or perpendicular to the trace of the San Andreas fault system. The domes rise 100 to 150 feet above the valley floor, and collectively are known as Obsidian Butte. They are extruded into the Quaternary alluvium and are thought to be fewer than 20,000 years old. Hurricanes, earthquakes, drought, west nile. The Lord is not happy! Loud wake-up calls.
Prayers up for all in the affected areas.

I’ve been following this for 4 hours. Over 30+ quakes >2.5 in the last 4 hours. The USGS is just generating “computer messages”. The site is reporting ALL of these quakes, including at least two of 5.4 and 5.3, have “NOT been reviewed by a seismologist”. Why not? Playing golf?

Uh oh.
An earthquake in the Salton Sea unleashes a horde of prehistoric mollusk monsters. Discovering the creatures, a Naval officer and several scientists attempt to stop the monsters, but they escape into the canal system of the California's Imperial Valley and terrorize the populace.

On February 20, 1943 just outside the Tarascan Indian village of Paricutin, Mexico a new volcano was born out of nowhere.
They called it the volcano in a corn field.
Yes folks, these volcanos can pop up like a pimple out of nowhere sometimes given the right conditions.

Just sat thru this swarm. We had a 7.2 on Easter a couple of years ago but these were frightening. I thought at least one would be at 6.5 or above but I got fooled because we had three separate quakes 5.3 then 5.4 and finally 5.3 all in under 50 seconds.

The first few were 4 pointers and then a couple of 5 pointers, one of which I felt over in San Diego, a mild jolt with a little creaking of the building.

Hate to say it CA Freepers, but I am praying for the big one. Thanks for taking a mag 9 and 300 foot tidal wave for the cause of liberty.

Volcanic ash helps cool the globe, right? (Pinatubo) So it would quell the global warmers for awhile, if we had a bit of a volcano going on.
Only bummer is if it falls on all that farmland in the Imperial Valley and destroys crops.
