This Whataburger stunt is a PR stunt and will backfire. They carefully chose a topic that is painless to get behind and are basically saying that their customers all hate bill collectors because they are a bunch of dead beats.

I think this stunt will backfire on Whataburger. I guess they think their customers are stupid deadbeats who will cheer them for suing a debt collector?

What an odd thing to say.
WB has already quietly filed cease and desist demand letters, and the collection agency is in clear violation of the law.
The collection agency is hampering the business from their ability to run their business.
I hope WB crushes them.

I read the underlying article and it looks like Whataburger really is out some $$ as a result of the collection agency’s activities (repeatedly calling Whataburger’s toll free number and thereby incurring charges after being requested to cease and desist). It therefore doesn’t appear to be a publicity stunt, and I hope Whataburger wins this suit, big time.
