BRUNSWICK A number of activist groups protested the Great State of Maine Air Show on Saturday.
Veterans for Peace was one of the groups that protested the air show of war planes at Brunswick Landing.
Along with the negative environmental effects, the group said events like these glorify war.
According to the group, Thunderbird airplanes drop bombs and kill people.
Group members said these planes should not be used to entertain.
Veterans for Peace member Bruce Gagnon said, "... We believe that these air shows basically are recruiting with gimmicks and recruit our children in to these endless wars that benefit corporations. They don't benefit the American people."

Bingo!! Nothing new under the sun! Same old tactic - what ever is of God, i.e. His Word satan is after it!
Maineiacs live too close to Vermont, the USSR of the USA, and have caught their disease.
***There is nothing like standing 300 feet from an F-15 with full afterburners blasting off***
Unless you are 30 feet from a B-52 or KC-135 engine when they inject water during ground tests, and you don’t have hearing protection. The sound makes your whole body vibrate far worse than any rock concert.
Don’t yell at me! I can’t hear you anyway! HUH?
300 feet is for sissies. Try 10" or so and an F-14 in 5th stage on Cat 1. I'd pay money to be there again.
Jesus has legions of angels ready for the final battle with Satan.
If it weren't for the military these pathetic creatures would be speaking either Japanese or German, or would have perished long ago.
Years ago my family vacationed in Brunswick, and we loved to watch the sub chasers come into their Naval Air Base there. (can't remember the name at the moment...) One lady called to complain about the noise the aircraft were making, and the person answering the phone call replied, "Ma'am... that's the sound of freedom."
Amen!
OK, I pass, LOL! Cheers!
JESUS has His Own spiritual army - 'HIS' church! He tells us who the real enemy is. Satan uses those who do not serve 'GOD first' as his minions. So that couple is WRONG! They don't know Jesus/His Word! It's all about Good vs. Evil.
"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money." Luke 16:13
"For our struggle is NOT against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the SPIRITUAL forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." Eph 6:12
EXACTLY!!
the person answering the phone call replied, "Ma'am... that's the sound of freedom."
PERFECT!!
"For the Word of God is LIVING and ACTIVE. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart". Heb 4:12
Yes, Jesus marvel at his faith! The centurion KNEW that a servant is obedient to his master - the one he serves, whoever that is. What the centurion knew in the natural (his servants obey) he applied to the supernatural. The centurion knew whatever JESUS said, it WILL BE done for HE has the power over the supernatural and evil/sickness will be destroyed! He didn't have to 'see' it first to believe - that's faith!
"Now faith is the ASSURANCE of things hoped for, the conviction of things NOT seen."
Group members said these planes should not be used to entertain. So they believe that the Thunderbirds aircraft should be withdrawn from display duties and be sent to Afghanistan and used for their proper function of dropping bombs and killing people.
Have I got their objection right?
The Great State of Maine airshow is held at the former Brunswick NAS, which mainly (no pun intended) had an ASW role. I attended the Thunderbirds air show at Hanscom (Lexington, MA) about 20 years ago. The PA announcer made it clear that in the event of war, there was a plan to change the livery of the Thunderbird aircraft and integrate them with a specific AF unit. You always have a reserve force at the start of a war, and the Thunderbirds are essentially reserve assets used for training superior pilots and what the heck, showing off the great training to the public.
I hope so!
“”There is nothing like standing 300 feet from an F-15 with full afterburners blasting off...”
Well you should have been ringside on a 30 below zero day when the F-102’s and F-101’s kicked in their AB’s.
Cheers...Chris
I like to get as close to the starting line as I can when the NHRA comes to town. (E-Town) The closer the better & you can get pretty close. The sound & feel of a T/F car is a beautiful thing.
How does that compare to a fighter jet?
Well neither of you are Jesus so what is your point?
I didn’t mean to imply that the TB’s planes were permanently “neutered”, they are technically combat planes, with the ordinanced either removed, or disabled.
They can be converted back into combat-ready quite readily if the need arises.
