I am not considering only what was directly said. I am also looking at what can be inferred from what Akin said. And that includes blaming the victim of rape in case of pregnancy.

Why should we care about this? Because it is a given that the Left will always put the construction on such statements that is most to the disadvantage of Conservatives. And this one went viral nationwide virtually instantaneously, which is why Republicans were forced to publicly distance themselves from it.

I'm not a politician, but if I were, I would carefully weigh anything I said in public with that in mind. Akin obviously didn't, in this case, and now he is facing a potentially career ending consequence for that mistake.
