Missouri conservatives rally to Akin, blast Republican “establishment”

(Reuters) – Missouri conservatives say they are rallying around U.S. Senate candidate Todd Akin despite his controversial comments about rape because they are outraged that “establishment” Republican Party leaders tried to railroad him out of the race.

A backlash has set in here in Akin’s suburban St. Louis congressional district, where supporters said the national party had no right to attempt to force out a duly-elected candidate.

Ever hear of pa engineer? He's a freeper who got into it with me on whether or not we should be supporting Goober 1 or Goober 2.

He almost challenged me to a duel (Called me crazy) so I read 100% of his postings for the last 9 months and discovered that he and I ordinarily take the same position on every issue. So if I"m crazy, he's crazy, and vice versa.

I think he slipped a cog in the discussion or something.

So, yes, you are wrong. My concern (there's that word eh) with Missouri Goober 3 is that he played footsie with the Democrats during the primary without complaint. He managed to ooze past a couple of more conservative candidates. Then, he calls in this creep leftwingtard in St. Louis and spills the beans to him on how addled his thinking about rape, pregnancy and abortion is ~ when all he had to do was say NO ~ to an interview.

He is insufficiently conservative for my taste. You necessarily support him from the Left!

So, tell me, which end of the pyramid are you most concerned with?
That question is so incomplete I have no idea whatsoever what you're asking about.
Are you talking about the food pyramid or something else? /sarcasm

Could you rephrase your question in a concise, intelligible manner?

The conservatives who are teaming up with Akin better think long and hard about alienating women, not just lib women but good pro-life women like me who are insulted by the complete disregard for rape victims which I am seeing.

Good advice, VictoryGal.

Maybe you should consider how dumb you are since others understood exactly what he was trying to say.

I didn't say I misunderstood him. I understood exactly what he was trying to say. And it was a dumb answer. The question, however, was simple and predictable and is asked of virtually every pro-life candidate in every election. Yet somehow they don't all babble out such silly responses.

I was really torn about answering this comment, because I suspect you realized right after posting it how silly it was.

No more silly than those who claim that Akin said "LEGITIMATELY RAPED". I was trying to point out how one can take ONE WORD out of context and make a big deal about it.

His answer sounded to me like he was unprepared for perhaps the most predictable question he could possibly have been asked on his pro-life position. And he blew it.

That is possible.

Why is it relevant whether or not it's rare?

Good point. Why then the hubbub ? If it doesn't matter, why is everyone jumping on him about it?

Perhaps the answer is that he was trying to undermine the 'trick' of the HOST in trying to include ALL RAPE into the discussion (and implying that ALL women who are raped get pregnant), when the real issue is SHOULD YOU AND I BE FORCED TO PAY for ABORTIONS. Not just RAPE ones, but ALL.

And THAT is the goal. More money for organized crime/socialists who are now running our nation.

Let me ask you this. Why is our Federal Government even involved in ABORTIONS ?

But right now more than one out of every five pregnancies in this country ends in an abortion - that's over a million a year.

OK. Gameclock is running. You are being interviewed, and you just gave this response. Can you back up your claim ?

OH, sorry. Time is up. Interview is over. Guess we'll just pass this on to TWITTER where it will go VIRAL and everyone can RAGE on about how you made a claim you couldn't back up during your 'interview'.

See how that works ?

That is your opinion! Just because you think his answer was "dumb" you don't get to automatically decide for everybody else that his answer was dumb. Maybe you should consider how dumb you are since others understood exactly what he was trying to say.

OK. Maybe it's me, but didn't you just switch sides ?

I wasn’t aware that some of these sites have OPENLY done that, but it is not surprising.

That's been an Internet tactic for years.
Why do you think newbies catch so much flack?!

"Oh, it's you." Get my point?

As long as they are LEGITIMATE RAPE victims.

So in so many words....you don’t know how many women lied about being raped. If your concern is false claims of rape because of “generous” govt funding of low income rape victims, maybe the funding side of the equation should be changed. It wouldn’t be much of a stretch to limit funding to VERY poor victims and for those who filed a police report at the time.

My parents have 12 living children and lost one to miscarriage. They came to visit me in MN the day I found out I wasn’t pregnant, after trying to conceive during that year after we lost our first child. I’ll never forget my Dad speaking faith to me as I told him I feared we would never have another child.

He shared that the first few years of their marriage they didn’t conceive but once the babies started coming they just didn’t stop. He said he thought Mom must have had early miscarriages in those first years because he couldn’t believe that they could have gone that long without getting pregnant, as fertile as they proved to be.

He had feared that they would never have children.

He was drafted and had been to the front lines of Korea. Mom had heard a report that his whole company had been annihilated; later a correction was issued, they had reported the wrong company number. A lot of stress. Started farming dead broke after he got back from Korea.

Who knows what really happened. But I do believe that stress and other things can impact fertility in ways we may not realize yet.

Something I do know, though: Life is a precious miracle. And sometimes we get gifts we never asked for, never thought we’d ever want, and originally grieve over. Blessings in disguise.

It’s not analogous...
I didn't ask if it was analogous. (analogous - having similar function but a different structure and origin)

Your statement again...
The reproductive tract has nothing comparable.
And I asked...
So spontaneous abortion is "magic" and it doesn't really exist after all and doctors don't know what they're talking about?

...now you try that with a uterus...
That's what I'm asking you about. Spontaneous abortion does happen in the uterus, doesn't it?

Oh, it’s you! To me, intelligent analysis of the general pattern of a person’s postings over time can be very revealing as to the likely intent of that person’s postings.

There are folks on this forum who (to me anyway) appear to be trying to influence opinions so that undesirable (from a conservative’s perspective) decisions/actions are made/taken.

One interesting characteristic of such “sleepers/saboteurs” is that they get VERY DEFENSIVE when anyone points out that what they are supporting/promoting will, in a broad sense, HARM CONSERVATISM OR CONSERVATIVES and our conservative/freedom agenda.

I tried sticking a microphone up my girlfriend's uterus, but I couldn't tell the results because I'm recovering from a nasty contusion to the head and sleeping in my car.

ROTFLOL
You're lucky that's all that happened. You could have gotten lost in there.
(ducking my head in advance at telling a crude, tasteless joke on a public forum)

I was trying to point out how one can take ONE WORD out of context and make a big deal about it.

I've said not one word about the phrase "legitimate rape." All of my comments have been based upon the entire answer, in context, because the first thing I did when I heard the attacks on that phrase was to go listen for myself. For those on the thread who may not have read it, here it is (including the question):

Charles Jaco:
“Okay, so if an abortion can be considered in the case of, say, tubal pregnancy or something like that, what about in the case of rape? Should it be legal or not?”

Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.):
“Well, you know, uh, people always want to try to make that as one of those things, ‘Well, how do you – how do you slice this particularly tough sort of ethical question.’

“It seems to me, first of all, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.

“But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something. You know, I think there should be some punishment but the punishment ought to be on the rapist and not attacking the child.”
I think it's important to keep that entire question and answer in mind, especially considering your next statement:

Perhaps the answer is that he was trying to undermine the 'trick' of the HOST in trying to include ALL RAPE into the discussion (and implying that ALL women who are raped get pregnant), when the real issue is SHOULD YOU AND I BE FORCED TO PAY for ABORTIONS. Not just RAPE ones, but ALL.

There was no "trick" in the question. It is simple and straightforward and predictable and easy to answer. Nor was the host implying that all rape victims get pregnant. Nor did anybody, Akin or the host, say one word in that exchange about abortion funding.

OK. Gameclock is running. You are being interviewed, and you just gave this response. Can you back up your claim ?

Can I back up my claim? That's what you're going with? Of course I can. But Akin can't. The plain meaning of his statement is that pregnancies are rare exceptions to a general physical impossibility of conception resulting from rape. That is an idiotic and unsupportable statement, and I don't understand why you can't see that's a problem.

He's not wrong about abortion. But he gave a dumb answer to a simple question, and I'm just not establishment enough to go defending every statement made by a guy just because he has an "R" after his name.
