Mike Huckabee has come out strong FOR Akin. I must say, I'm not nearly as angry at Akin now as I was six days ago when I said I would not vote for him or McCaskill. Now, I'd have to vote for him. But, I live in Texas, not Missouri. So, I get to vote for Ted Cruz.

One of my Missouri friends called me back last evening and he has recanted.

Wow! One voter.Well, that's it then,we can stock up on champagne in Missouri...and nationwide, for that matter...getting ready for November. Now if only Princess Liawatha in Massachusetts, just to give one example, would stop running the ads that began a few days ago accusing Scott Brown of being in favor of rape.

I slammed what Akin said early and loud on these forums.

But he did show a source, it wasn’t something he dreamed up on his own.

Many Freepers here are made up of far weaker intellectual and ethical material. Long after Akin’s source was revealed, and even linked to multiple times they continued to assert that this was some stupid thing Akin made up out of thin air.

The only people "brain dead" are those that skewered Akin handing the left a gift of enormous proportions. Peeps gotta think first before they let loose with venom, anger, and disapproval against their own. Here's a good article for everyone to read: Making a mountain out of a Missouri molehill. Glad to hear you're having a change of heart pistolpackinpapa.

The people in Missouri will have a choice to make in November between a longtime conservative with his inadvertent comment that he apologized for and a backstabbing corkscrewing double-dealing prefabrication that wants to cram Obamacare down their throats.

They will choose wisely.

While i’m happy that he will be voting for Akin anecdotal evidence really doesn’t prove much. Most people associate themselves with folks who think like they do so his friend base might be very different than the average person in the state.

I just sent Akin a donation. Akin is a strong conservatives and ranks up there with Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin. He is a rare species among today's republicans. The man has an A rating from the National Rifle Association; a 100% rating with the American Conservative Union; he fought Carnahan on funding abortions in MO; he voted for the Ryan Budget. He apologized for his dumb comment and the gop establishment was quick to toss him to the wolves. LOOK at Akin’s record..don't actions speak louder than words? no true conservative will vote against Todd Akin

Sarah, I was wrong. It looks like it isn’t going to blow over in two weeks. It only took two days.

See, I can admit when I’m wrong. :-)

Wishful thinking, I'm afraid. Read what Democrats have to say:

I think he should not drop out of the race," said a Democratic poll respondent Weldon Cox, 87, of an unincorporated area St. Louis County. "He won (the GOP) primary fair and square. Let the democratic process rule."

Cox admitted his view was affected by the notion that Akin "will be the easiest to beat" for McCaskill. He added that such a victory could salvage Missouri's reputation. "This is making Missouri look pretty bad. I'm frankly embarrassed, even ashamed."

Akin made a mistake that the liberals pounced on. The Republicans (including many on this forum) came to the aid of the Democrats in making this a national issue.

Akin has apologized and asked for our forgiveness. We should accept his apology and support him. The incident was unfortunate, but let's move on and win an election. Time and distance will heal this wound.

I want to see these people formally apologize by donating some real money and volunteering on the campaign.

It’s shameful the way our own party treated Akin, for just misspeaking.

This doctrinaire approach more resembles the Democrats... we’re the party that’s open-minded and even capable of forgiving others.

Please tell me you posted this for a laugh.

You’re delivering us the “news” that people (some you know) have on second thought from their anger at Akin decided no, they won’t vote for Claire, they will vote for Akin after all.

If someone has anything going for them, brain-wise and politics-wise, voting for Claire was NEVER an option. So their conclusion after a few days that they won’t vote for her, no matter how mad at Akin they are, is not news.

People like this were never going to vote for HER.

However, there are plenty of other people who don’t want someone like Todd Akin representing them and their state in the US Senate, so much so they will refuse to vote for him. Whereas we know Claire’s (Obama’s) drones will vote in droves.

Before this, they were inclined to vote for him or at least against Claire because she’s too far left for MO. Now, who knows how it will shake out.

But I will say this, regardless of how it shakes out, if Todd Akin is the best MO Republicans/conservatives have to offer, that’s way too bad. Yes, I’ve seen his voting record. Fine. But a senator is MORE than a vote, he’s a personality, he’s a voice, he represents a cause greater than himself.

This guy is awful.

I’m a Missourian. I didn’t vote for Todd Akin in the primaries, I voted for Steelman.

However, now that the primaries are over, I support Todd Akin. We Missourian’s chose him to run against McCaskill, and now we have to stand by him. That’s the way it goes. I’m not a sore loser, but I’ve noticed many here are!

Here’s my biggest issue: Claire McCaskill and her Leftist ideology kills babies, Todd Akin wants to save those babies.

Sure, what Todd Akin said about rape & pregnancy was stupid and insensitive, but I’ve looked through the 10 Commandments, again, and I don’t see anywhere in there where stupidity is one of those 10 sins. However, murder is!!!

If Judgment Day were today, McCaskill would be toast for her position on abortion. However, does anyone see God punishing Akin for his pro-life views, no matter how stupid his justifications are? I, for one, certainly do not see God condemning Akin for his pro-life stance, but I do see Him condemning McCaskill to Hell.

So, what’s the bottom line on this rant from me? Conservatives from all over America have crucified Todd Akin for making a silly, misguided comment. They have lost sight of the BIG picture!: McCaskill is the ENEMY, not Akin!

Those of you here who have stuck your noses into Missouri politics just to relentlessly slam Akin and call for his removal from the race, UP YOURS!!! You ARE NOT working for the Conservatives, you are working for the enemy!

So, either butt out, or come out of the closet and declare your love for Obama and McCaskill!

Cheers

I for one will be glad when all this discussion about women's plumbing comes to and end! He said what he said. It no longer matters.

Overseas military ballots go out Sept. 22. General absentee ballots go out Sept.25. Look on your calendars people! One week from today is Sept.1! For those in Rio Lindo, that is but 7 days away...Time is running out.

Like it or not, Todd Akin is the Republican candidate for Senate from Missouri. Those interested in doing something besides talking can donate to below address.

Akin may be and anchor, but he is our anchor. We either weigh anchor and set sail with Todd Akin at the helm or get fed a guaranteed giant shit sandwich from Mother McRascal. Tax hikes. Gun bans. Kenya-care. Wake up sports fans!

I don’t have any doubt that the vast majority of conservatives will vote for Akin in November. The question is how much support among independents and moderate Democrats he can attract after his past gaffs and the gaffs yet to come.

Missouri conservatives rally to Akin, blast Republican “establishment”

(Reuters) – Missouri conservatives say they are rallying around U.S. Senate candidate Todd Akin despite his controversial comments about rape because they are outraged that “establishment” Republican Party leaders tried to railroad him out of the race.

A backlash has set in here in Akin’s suburban St. Louis congressional district, where supporters said the national party had no right to attempt to force out a duly-elected candidate.

Like Ken Buck in Colorado, Akin is staying in and will lose.

He has done great damage to the pro-life movement.

This is all very unfortunate.

You have to remember who he is running against.

Claire McCaskill got caught red-handed not paying property taxes on her LearJet.

She's made millions collecting government checks for the old folks' homes she runs. IOT, she has made millions on the backs of the elderly.

She's a sleazy crook, and she's joined at the hip to Ubama, who is going down to defeat in a landslide of historic proportions.

Ubama has coattails. Believe it.

So just yesterday you posted a vanity that asked ‘aren’t we lucky we didn’t get a socon like Rick Santorum for President because he might have said something stupid like Akin did’.

Today you post a vanity that says “gee, maybe Akin will pull out this election after all.”

Twist in the wind much?
