New poll shows Obama with a significant lead over Romney in Pennsylvania (up by 9 points)
Philadelphia Inquirer ^ | August 25, 2012 | Tom Infield

Ten weeks before the election, a voter poll commissioned by The Inquirer finds President Obama leading Republican rival Mitt Romney by a significant margin in Pennsylvania, raising the question of whether the Keystone State is up for grabs on Nov. 6.

The Inquirer Pennsylvania Poll, led by a bipartisan team of top political analysts, concluded that if the election were held now, Obama would win the state by nine percentage points - 51-42 - with 7 percent of voters undecided.

The telephone survey of 601 likely voters, conducted from Tuesday through Thursday, had a statistical margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent. The results are comparable to those of other recent polls, including one released Thursday by Muhlenberg College, which also found Obama leading by nine points in the state.

Jeffrey Plaut of Global Strategy Group, a Democratic polling firm, said the results may indicate Pennsylvania has lost some of its "swingy-ness." He said Friday that Democrats would have to fail to turn out their base voters to "put the state in play."

Yeah I don’t see the problem with this some of you do.

I’m expecting Obama to win Pennsylvania easily.

Apparently Pennsylvanians love themselves some Obama.

If things don’t improve there significantly after the convention, resources might be better invested elsewhere.

What part, though? Don't Philly and Pittsburgh overwhelm everyone else?

It's very simple to conclude that this poll is relatively useless when the polls internals don't note party breakdown, don't note the number of cell phones vs. landlines, and the fact that the number polled within the five county metro area of Philly is apparently roughly 60% or so of the total statewide respondents, thus explaining the high 6.9% +/- margin for the smaller geographical poll.NO, NON, NADA poll should be considered legitimate if party breakdown is not disclosed. Without that most basic of stats to allow one to access party weighting vs. 2010 and 2008 a poll loses almost all credibility. That is, if the party breakdown would appear realistic then there would be no need to exclude but to the contrary to trumpet it as proof of the poll's soundness.

While O and Co. are relying on their biased MSM to create an appearance of winning it will probably have the opposite effect and lull borderline O supporters to think it's in the bag.

Agreed, it has been typical liberal trash media for years. Now, though, I consider it a totally 100% printing press owned by the DNC bought solely for political purposes.

I live in Montgomery county in a town just over the city line. Lots of limosine libs here, particularly lots of Jewish folks. I don’t believe this poll. My big time lib next door neighbor, although worried about Ryan, is voting for Romney. About the only thing that could change her mind at this point is if Hillary got on the Dem ticket.

Tuesday-Thursday of this past week, that’s the ideal time frame to catch the wave on Akin—every drive-time radio headline newscast hammered the point he was a Republican. Republicans better have a Weiner in their pockets, so to speak, for the week of November 1.

After the election is over, the entire body of the democratic party should be charged with treason. There isn’t an honest one in the bunch. The -d party should be designated a criminal enterprize.

I am wondering if you are crawling all over FR saying 0kakahead is going to win because you just love him so, or because you are paid. Of course if you are paid you probably also luv him so.
