Poll indicates alarming movement in the Obama/Romney horse race resulting from MO's GOP senate nominee Todd Akin's controversial remarks. Clearly, there has been collateral damage...

Maybe to the voters of Missouri they were looking for a competent candidate who would help improve the economy. After they saw how well Akin manages his own campaign they lost confidence that he is the right man to do the job in Washington DC.
It makes a lot of sense that the Akin affair would cost Romney votes, but to think Akin did not cost Romney a single per cent of the women's makes the entire poll difficult to understand.
Just another case of conservatives "eating their own" while Dems defend their liars and idiots.
Perhaps Romney would be fairing better if he didn't appear to be bending over on account of media bullying.
No, people won’t switch from Romney to Obama because of this. Many of them will simply stay home, which will have the same effect. Because of Akin’s stupid, uninformed comment, the Romny campaign will now have to dump resources into a state that should be a gimme. Akins is therefore damaging the Romney campaign in places like Ohio, Virginia, Colorado and all of the other swing states.
Because of Romney's attack on Akin, perhaps? A reinforcement of the Romney's liberal credentials, just in time.
If that were the case, Akin would be climbing in the polls. Instead, Akin's own polls mirror the drop we now see in Romney's numbers.
That tells me Akin has created a negative effect on the Republican Party which is the ONLY thing that Romney and Akin have in common.

Conservative women have more conviction, I believe. And we definitely stand up for those that stand up for our children.
Too bad the title isn't "Women Unaffected by Aiken's Statements." The media is, as usual,controlling voter response.
It’s not media bullying, skeeter. There is genuine grassroots anger at Akin on the part of longtime conservative party activists such as myself. Akin is doing great damage to the conservative movement across the country.

Why would anyone else with political aspirations want to accept a loser's position?
IMHO. Either the Missourians and R's stick with this guy and do their best to help him win or abandon him like they are doing and help him lose. But, how does a replacement dig himself out of this hole? What is assure him/her that if they make a mistake that the R's and establishment R's won't cut and run, again?

maybe because conservative women weren’t offended? ...even here on FR, many ladies have said Akin was clumsy, but correct. there are false rape reports. (will ONE honest Akin critic, tell me what term you would use, to discribe rapes that were not false accusations...I agree: This from Illinois Review:

But, Romney's followers don't grasp is that Romney has dropped in Missouri because he has alienated social conservatives and Akin supporters. The attacks on Akin were inexcusable and seen as an attack on pro-lifers and social conservatives in general.
If Willard and the goons in the Republican establishment had gone to Akin, treated him with respect and assured him a strong social conservative would have replaced, the backlash could have been avoided.
Romney and the GOP-e exposed just how much they despise social conservatives and pro-lifers. They deserve to suffer the consequences.

Be nice if “conservative” pundits bothered to read the poll they are citing rather cling to their emotion based opinions. Romney loss of support in MO comes from REPUBLICANS deserting him over his statement on Akin.

As a door knob has no concept of its own existence, so too Todd Akin has no concept of what he has done and how it will affect at least the MO election and likely even the national... Yep, let’s stick with Doorknob Akin and kick some ass....... crickets....
