As the controversy over Republican Senate candidate Todd Akins legitimate rape comment continues, Mitt Romneys lead in Missouri has vanished.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Missouri Voters finds President Obama with 47% support to Romneys 46%. Three percent (3%) favor some other candidate in the race, and three percent (3%) more are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Yeah, lets allfall all on our swords for a delusional psycho like Akin. that is the ticket!
I do not understand "...can't be replaced?"
Must have called only in the cities
You are mistaken. Akin can absolutely be replaced, but it has to happen quickly. Either Brunner or Steelman can replace under MO election law if the candidate withdraws; there are no "sore loser" prohibitions.
That’s what I don’t get about the pro-life crowd. There is no pro-life if BO wins or we don’t take the majority in the Senate. Seems to me they are less concerned about dead babies than about there own self. Fools.
Akin needs to go.
It is not noble, principled, pure, or SANE to continue w this nut job.
Concur, but it will cost more GOP money to carry the state, and it will hurt down-ballot Republicans.
That's obviously better than Akin staying in. It will have the same end result (McCaskill wins) and it will be better for Romney in Missouri, and the GOP nationwide.
A lot of them are like the ABR crowd - live lfe with blinders on and keep marching to the same drum, even if it is not working.
Agree, but it isn't gonna happen. Elwood Akin is on a mission from god.
little "g" on purpose...
To Todd Akin...thanks alot @$$ho!e!
Then who should replace him on the ballot????
It would be better if Claire ran unopposed - the race is probably lost anyway - than for this ballot box poison to remain on the ballot. He is toxic to anyone with an (R) after their name.
R&R should use this as a Sistah Soljah momment and blast away at this fool.
This will force Romney to spend money in a state he should have carried easily. He probably still wins MO, but loses a ton of cash he could have spent elsewhere like OH or VA.
And the DNC can now safely pull money from MO.
a month ago, Romney was ahead by 6 there.
Expel him from the house caucus
I guess he thinks he is like Lloyd Blankfein doing “God’s Work”
A bunch of delusional psychotics who think supporting this freak show is a good idea.
There is another nasty dimension to this. Everyone is blithely assuming that Senator Mark Kirk (R-IL), who is recovering from a massive stroke, will be able to return to the Senate in 2013. The Senator’s recovery is underway, but bad things can happen and his recovery could go sideways. Illinois has a Democratic governor, and would replace Kirk with a Dem in a New York minute.
Bottom line: EVERY seat matters. We have no room for error, and must prepare for EVERY contingency.
