As the controversy over Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin’s “legitimate rape” comment continues, Mitt Romney’s lead in Missouri has vanished.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Missouri Voters finds President Obama with 47% support to Romney’s 46%. Three percent (3%) favor some other candidate in the race, and three percent (3%) more are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Its not ignorance. The Akin supporters are ABR’s who have found another avenue to give obama 4 more years. These delusional clowns are as fake as a 3 dollar bill.
If this is done quickly, Robin Carnahan cannot survive the national spotlight that would be put upon her, and she will harm the Dems in Missouri and beyond. But it has to be done sooner rather than later - or she WILL get away with any games she wants.
Suck it up and answer it.
Ann Wagner, while faced with personal tragedies would end the "rape issue" once and for all. At least in MO. And that is where it counts. Ditto for Sarah Steelman. I do think we need a woman. A conservative woman!
But all this assumes Akin will jump through all the hoops and get his name off the ballot successfully. The military overseas ballots go out less than a month from now and the majority of those would vote Republican. We need their votes!!!

They also elected Clare McBrainless in the first place because doing so would cure Michael J Fox and make Christopher Reeve walk again. You'd think by now they would have learned, but obviously that's not the case.
Akin and those who encouraged him to stay in own this poll and the pending defeat we face in November.
At the very least we conservatives knew that if Romney lost to Obama we conservatives could have at least been able to blame the GOP Establishment and the RINOs for the Obama victory.

He has won the U.S. House seat in this safe district six times. The first time was relatively easy, and the rest have been even easier. He hasn't had to open his mouth much in public in a closely contested race. Now we have seen what happens when he does.
You want us to screw a genuine Tea Party conservative who actually won a GOP primary.
Instead, let's buy into the defeatist media narrative, kick an actual conservative off the ticket and allow the GOP establishment to select a good old fashioned, unobjectionable, squishy George H. W. Bush-era GOP establishment RINO.
Ever heard of former Missouri RINO Senator John Danforth? He'd be perfect! He can beat Claire McCaskill and then he'll negotiate with Harry Reid to keep Dem tax hikes "reasonable" and Obamacare "modest." He won't support taxpayer funding for all abortions -- that would be wrong but funding some abortions seems like a reasonable compromise!

I am defending Akin because he has been treated unfairly by the GOP Establishment. I don't think what he said (and apologized immediately thereafter) deserved/warranted such a reaction from his own party. The GOP's swift repsonse one day after his remark coming from all corners of the country including the RNC calling for his withdrawal, cutting off funds, and disinviting him from the convention was petty and vindictive for a man who served the party well for 24 years. There had to be another agenda at work to cause such a response.
This Senate seat is more important than any one person. Period.
Should Mourdock have not challenged Lugar? Lugar was a dead lock on reelection. Mourdock has certainly put that seat in play. We heard the same blather about putting Mike Castle in the Senate rather than have Christine O'Donnell run. McCain and the Establishment wanted Charlie Crist to be the nominee over Rubio. Bennett over Mike Lee, Specter over Toomey. This is the kind of rationale that has given us McConnell as minority leader. It really doesn't matter if someone has an R after their name if they are going to give us the same policies as the Dems and not roll back the welfare state. Snowe, Collins and Specter voted for the stimulus. IMO Todd Akin was too conservative for the Republican Party.

This will all blow over. Akin will win and will be a pro-life vote in the new Republican Senate. No way will Obama win Missouri. If Akin is convinced to quit THAT will hand the seat to the Rats.
If you were Ann Wagner's husband would you sacrifice a given Congressional seat, a sure thing that you don't have to fight for, for a fight with a seasoned political critter with no guarantee of success????

No. Missouri voted for his widow. Mel Carnahan died Oct.17, 2000. His name could not legally be removed from the ballot at that late date. Ashcroft stood down his campaign (error) and Jean C. was elected. Everyone in Missouri understood who they were voting for. Even if outsiders did not...
And six times he won in the state legislature. He also won the Senate primary.

The ball is in their court -- do you want a genuine Senate conservative or not? My guess is not -- McConnell is running scared that DeMint will stage a coup and put conservatives in charge.
I agree with you, Linda. The fact that Mitt Romney is the nominee in a party that is supposed to be conservative tells me everything I need to know about where we are as a country. Voters in this country are supremely stupid and unprincipled, and they no longer deserve a decent government or a decent country, in my opinion. Too many people think that if we can just get enough “R”s in office, everything will be OK again. Well, it won’t, and a big part of the reason is that the Rs no longer fight for principles. Without principles, it doesn’t matter which jackass is in office.
