If all politics is local politics, it must be said: This is a bad week to be a Missourian.
No, I dont live in Missouri. But Im a conservative and a pro-life advocate, so thanks to Rep. W. Todd Akin, I must necessarily worry about the U.S. Senate race in Missouri, a contest that should have been an easy win for my side.
Mr. Akin thrust himself into the Hall of Fame of 21st Century Political Stupidity, an incredible accomplishment in the age of Anthony Weinergate Weiner, then-South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanfords rendezvous with a lover in Argentina, and anything uttered by Vice President Joseph R. Biden.
By using the words legitimate and rape in a dependent clause, and by opining that pregnancy is less likely to occur under traumatic circumstances because the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down, Mr. Akin turned himself into a lightning rod of controversy...

Gotta be up before you can fall down. The GOP sux.
Not sure which Akin thread to respond in.
But yes, when you have an issue that Rove, Rush, Palin, Levin, Hannity and Romney all agree on, ie that Akin needs to step down, then I would say there really isn’t a debate.
His most frustrating comment was the one where he talked about the voters of Missouri wanting him there. Yeah, maybe 30 percent of R primary voters voted for you plus another 6 percent from Dem mischief makers. A real mandate for Todd.
If Todd really thinks the voters want him, then have them re-run the primary post this week of stupidity. He’d lose and lose badly.
I’m not seeing any effect on my candidates but yes I agree overall, the GOP is a mess all by themselves.
Rove is a GOPe statist, Hush Bimbo is just being Hush Bimbo, just how often do you hear Bimbo fighting for social issues? Palin makes errors and even endorsed Orrin Hatch, Sean Vannity is a GOPe nancy boy, and Mitt Romney is a pathological liar who compares the Tea Party to frightened, angry Ferrets. Best of all, I’m a conservative who thinks for himself. Not a herd animal like most people.
Dang good point!
The majority of Tea Party members want Akin out.
No he’s not. Even without MO the GOP is going to pick up 4-8 Senate seats
It is utterly pathetic how easily the GOP/Conservative movement falls for these Democrat Propaganda machine tactics of diversion and distraction
Personally I think a lot of “moderates” from Romney on down are struggling and trying to blame someone when they themselves are pathetic.
If drama queen Willard and his Giddy Ship LolliGOP are so fragile in their hold on reality that one insignaificant Republican US Senate candidate interjecting a little truth into the abortion debate can upset their handcart, then they better just take some Prozac and drop out of the race...
That way the emotional anxiety will all go away...
Akin is a dumbarse and should drop out just because of his ability to shoot himself in the foot repeatedly.
Nonetheless, though my fellow Freepers are generally spot bang on the issues, too many of you are political morons. The fact he is only down 10% after this and McGaskill is under 50% is in political terms near miraculous.
If Akin gets smart he could win this.
No you are Democrat bot clown who thinks he is clever racing around Conservative websites posturing as an Uber Conservative while doing nothing but trash talking the GOP and its candidates.
We see you infliTratiors ever election year. This leftist clown stunt fools no one here.
when you have an issue that Rove, Rush, Palin, Levin, Hannity and Romney all agree
Rove, Hannity..Romneycare.. come on...
get off my phone.....down he goes...

I’m not trash talking Akin. The RINO are.
Rush spent the day explaining the Republicans are scared of their own shadow and we must just accept this fact for eternity. Nothing we can do about it, and it really doesn’t matter anymore since Rush has a bunch of money and it set for life.
The GOP does have a tendency to eat their own as stated in the article that you mention. I have seen it. I’m sure we could sit down and come up with a list of names and examples where it has happened. I’m also sure we could all agree that those people were treated unfairly by the GOP.
Akin is an exception to that list. Yes, the GOP knee jerked on Akin but even a broken clock is correct twice a day. It just so happened that this knee jerk reaction was a good one.
Shame on Akin for allowing the GOP to earn credibility on this issue. Until now the GOP was lacking that credibility of eating their own that were good ones.
To compare Akin to those good ones that have unfairly been tossed by the GOP is actually an insult to conservatism, the pro-life movement and those who were unfairly tossed before him.
You going to need to go back democratic troll school because you’re way too obvious. Somewhat entertaining though, so thanks for that.
Not True. This isn’t about the Tea Party anyway. I’m not Tea Party, a lot of us conservatives aren’t just automatically Tea Partiers just because the Tea Party exists. The Tea Party isn’t really much of anything, but a bunch of people trying to claim a piece of leadership of it.
