America - A Horse With No Name+Lyrics

On the first part of the journey,
I was looking at all the life.
There were plants and birds. and rocks and things,
There was sand and hills and rings.
The first thing I met, was a fly with a buzz,
And the sky, with no clouds.
The heat was hot, and the ground was dry,
But the air was full of sound.

I've been through the desert on a horse with no name,
It felt good to be out of the rain.
In the desert you can remember your name,
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain.
La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la

After two days, in the desert sun,
My skin began to turn red.
After three days, in the desert fun,
I was looking at a river bed.
And the story it told, of a river that flowed,
Made me sad to think it was dead.

You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name,
It felt good to be out of the rain.
In the desert you can remember your name,
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain.
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la

After nine days, I let the horse run free,
'Cause the desert had turned to sea.
There were plants and birds, and rocks and things,
There was sand and hills and rings.
The ocean is a desert, with it's life underground,
And a perfect disguise above.
Under the cities lies, a heart made of ground,
But the humans will give no love.

You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name,
It felt good to be out of the rain.
In the desert you can remember your name,
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain.

La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la

Counting Crows - Big yellow taxi

they paved paradise
and put up a parking lot
with a pink hotel, a boutique
and a swinging hot spot

don't it always seem to go
that you don't know what youve got til its gone
they paved paradise
and put up a parking lot

they took all the trees
and put 'em in a tree museum
and they charged the people
a dollar and a half to seem 'em

don't it always seem to go,
that you don't know what youve got
til its gone
they paved paradise
and put up a parking lot

hey farmer farmer
put away the DDT
i dont care about spots on my apples
leave me the birds and the bees
please!

don't it always seem to go
that you don't know what youve got
til its gone
they paved paradise
and put up a parking lot
hey, now they paved paradise
to put up a parking lot
why not?

listenin' late last night
i heard the screen door slam
and a big yellow taxi
took my girl away
now, don't it always seem to go
that you don't know what you've got
til its gone
they paved paradise
and put up a parking lot

hey now, now
Don't it always seem to go
that you don't know what you got
til its gone
they paved paradise
to put up a parking lot

i dont want give it-
why you want give,
why you want give it all away?
hey hey hey
now you want give it,
ah she wanna give it
cause she givin it all away
now now now

Hey pave paradise
put up a parking lot

Roland Orzabal (Tears for Fears): Dandelion

This is about the only tree or plant song i can think of in my collection. Normally not the type of song i listen to, and not the kind of thing you'd expect from a Tears for Fear guy, but it's catchy.

Andrews Sisters - Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree

In 1947, this song was answered in a release entitled, "Still Sitting Under the Apple Tree"--I believe it was by Vaugnn Monroe. Unfortunately, Youtube doesn't have it.

The Moody Blues were among my favorites back in the 1970s. They were playing at Lakeland, FL Civic Center and I had grown tired of my friends always being late. The Lakeland CC was not assigned seating at least at that time. My friends always were late so we were always in the back. I told them I was on my own and got there early and saw the Moody Blues from the second row, probably 1977. A really great show.

Saw Lynyrd Skynyrd at the second to last concert before the plane crash there too.
