What a difference one TV interview can make. Embattled Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill has now jumped to a 10-point lead over her Republican challenger, Congressman Todd Akin, in Missouris U.S. Senate race. Most Missouri Republicans want Akin to quit the race while most Missouri Democrats want him to stay.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the Show Me State finds McCaskill earning 48% support to Akins 38%. Nine percent (9%) like some other candidate in the race, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

Turned on the tv this morning, and zipped by CNN for a few seconds on the way to the Weather Channel and an Isaac update. The big heading/discussion: “Ryan and Rape.”
Not feeling too charitably towards Akin right now.
“Give it a week for the outrage to die down”
Not gonna happen. McCaskill will replay the interview non stop and Akin will sink even further.
Many voters are not paying attention yet and probably missed the scandal.
I agree in the grand scheme it means little,
but your ire should be directed at the selfish little jerk who put himself and his pride over every other thing...
He’s acting like an ENTITLED democrat
He really is a jerk for not dropping out.
R self-flagellation likely accounts for much of the 10% deficit.
“...this means not a WHIT.”
Yep, it affects his actions as a senator not at all.
He would vot for a judge or justice that would not write an abortion ‘right’ into the Constitution and that’s it.
So would any good senator.
But the Dems “sell the sizzle, not the steak” like the media.
And the dumb sluts buy it...
Apologies never work.
Jerk? Normal for most US Senators.
He is polling a little higher than I expected, but I think that is probably the ceiling of support he will get in the race. He needs to dropout.
Honestly, no, most people do not know or realize any of that—I’d say about 35% do. People think if the scenario you outlined were true, they would hear about it on the evening news. You can blame it on the lying, state run media.
As a final post I said that regardless if Akin stays in or is replaced, at this point with the attitude of his supposed supporters, the seat will remain with Caskill.
So, Missouri voters, enjoy.
Told ya.
I can just see it now from them, "Why take a gamble in swing states with pro-life candidates, when we can have a 'sure win' without them...". This isn't just about this race, but the stake of future races for the party. Pro-life groups should think long and hard about continuing to support Akin- there are many, other solid candidates in MO who won't cause this outcome, or lose this current race.
This is proof that the man should have quit... I will put money into any challenge that Sarah Palin is involved with.
LLS
and there you have it...McCaskill’s money spent supporting Akin during the primary seems to have paid off well
except it is a national story and a drum that the dims are pounding in unison.
“Give it a week for the outrage to die down”
I’m inclined to agree. And if Akin does somehow survive this and gets elected, he will be beholden to no one - especially the republican party.
He can walk into the senate chambers with one of those “We’re #1” outsized football gloves except it won’t be the index finger that is raised up high.
He will be the most independent senator in Congress. And Rush is wrong about needing 51 republican senators. We only need 50 if Ryan becomes VP and becomes the deciding vote in the senate.
I don’t know about any of these polls. By any company.
Rasmussen is clearly a company that leans right with t’s poling which means Rasmussen himself would probably like to see Akin out of the race so he the right wing polling company comes up with a poll that has him down 10, but the PPP aka liberal polling company has Akin up.
See my point?
I just wonder if all these people make things up and pulls numbers out of thin air and no one should pay attention to them at all.
