Rasmussen will be releasing a poll this morning showing Akin costing us dearly in Missouri: McCaskill 48% Akin 38%.

Time to pack it up and stop screwing us, big guy.

Akin blew himself up , no one else is to blame but himself.

His supporters are just as delusional to reality.

If Akin stands firm and the GOP quit acting like democrats, he'll win and we gain a Senate seat.

BARBARA STREISAND!

Most of the pro-Akin crowd (outside of Missouri) are from the same group that vowed to teach the GOP Establishment and Rinos such as Romney a lesson by making sure they did not win. They repeated that there's no difference between Romney and Obama.

Tables have turned now.

If we lose the Senate seat in Missouri and/or Romney loses Missouri and the general election the heat is off Romney.

We conservatives will be the blame (even though most of us wanted Akins out too).

Not only has Akin hurt our chances in Missouri but he also hurt the pro-life movement and nows he's about to taint the conservative movement.

His current “glee level” is about to disappear. If Obama wins in november because of Missouri, we can no longer tell the RINOs "we told you so".

That's a shame.

He needs to go now.

No question about it.
Akin is Ahab all over again.

A little research on Toddie's nomination battles reveals this is how he typically wins; he edges out his opponents in a crowded primary, once by only 52 votes.

He will go down in flames come November. A true debacle.

Akins numbers will improve from here and should he not drop out (I hope he does) he may still win.

Yes, it's possible, but I'm not holding my breath. Akin could get back into the 40's, but can he top, say, 46%? That may be his ceiling, and only if he makes a good recovery. But I'm not sure he's capable of that. Conservative Republicans like me will vote for Akin over McCaskill, and there are others who also are ABOC (Anyone But ObamaClaire), but I doubt they would be enough to gain the victory.

Cost us the election?

LOL, are you serious? Take a walk around town and stop 10 people randomly and ask them who Todd Akin is.

I guarantee you 9 of them will not know. The idea a candidate for a Senate seat can have an impact on a presidential election is pure nonsense.

Remember, all politics is local.

Oh, yeah, a freaking 19 POINT NEGATIVE SWING is a bump? You have got to be kidding me.

Not so. When Bin Laden was brought to justice, Obama enjoyed a 6 point bump that lasted ... two weeks. If the GOP wises up and fights back against the democrat hypocrisy instead of encouraging it, this whole verbal miscue will disappear in two weeks.

It's far harder to come back from a negative event than to overcome a positive bump for the other candidate.

Brunner and Steelman are ineligible, since they lost in the primary (second and third, respectively). They would lose anyway.

Very nice (and very spot on in my opinion) analysis!

I have decided not to vote for ANYONE at all this year. After all, it’s only one vote and I am voting my conscience. Plus in the last few days, I have discovered that there really isn’t a dimes worth of difference between anyone running. There are certainly NO men running for POTUS that have any balls or conscience. AND the truth is, I would NEVER have voted for McCain four years ago without Palin on the ticket and now she’s not even allowed to speak in Tampa. So many things....I feel better not voting at all. This country is lost. Just see how the House under Boehner have acted. They could have stopped alot of this crap the POTUS is doing but they are so afraid the press! Telling the truth is not attacking them!

Missouri’s lost if he STAYS on the ticket as he is toxic.

Remember, all politics is local

YES, it is local. NOT national. That's why it hurts our chances in the national election

There side will be running to the polls, many of ours (especially the women) will be staying home.

No doubt a bad poll and yet McCaskill still cannot reach 50%. Not only that but there are still 14% undecideds and as we know undecideds generally break in great measure for the challenger.

I want him to quit also but I also don't believe it is as “over” as some here think.
