There are two sides within the anti-abortion movement. On one side, stand men and women who care deeply about human life and fear that abortion devalues society by creating a caste of disposable people. On the other side, lurk crabbed adults who think women should be punished for having extramarital sex and that pregnancy is fit punishment that (luck of the draw) spares men and falls instead on women and girls.
I think we all know which corner hosts Rep. Todd Akin.

Is that you Todd Akin? How about you provide evidence for your claims.
TODD AKIN AMERICA DIED TODAY! thank you for being a Obama fan and Mccaskill fan. Rot in Hell Todd Akin!
Like Steve Deace said tonight, the Republicans are saying and acting towards Todd Akin in ways that they would NEVER do towards Obama or the Clintons.
Akin has no idea what a mess he’s created. He’s walked right into the womens issue by expounding on a stupid conception concept. Since he’s decided not to bow out MSM via NPR are moving ahead with bashing distortions of Republican postions over the airwaves repleat with talk of gradations of rape, and victim participation not the issue of abortion, let alone the economy.
Now talk hosts among them my favorite Levin are busy urging those from the big MO to vote for this fool because there seems to be no other choice. Forearmed with the knowledge that Mc-Claire ran ads supporting The Bozo during his primary I don’t know how Mark could ask anyone to do that with a streight face. The sad fact is this sits well with certain members of the GOP-E who believe in the piecemeal approach in fixing Zerocare.
Options:
1...Pray that St Michael comes down and advises Akin to withdraw, cover those expences.
I think part of Romney’s reason for injecting himself into this is to signal “moderates” that he isn’t really all that committed to the pro-life cause. Notice I said “part”.
LOL... I, and people like me, didn’t say anything like what he said. We are not even a candidate for anything, so how could we allow the media to change the discourse of the election?
No, it probably isn't.
However, it was totally irrelevant to the question he was asked -- what about pregnancies resulting from rape.
We all know that it happens. But, instead, Akin answered by trying to make an unclear distinction between rape and rape...and some unsupported mumbo jumbo about women's physiology under stress.
It had nothing to do with the question...and was a lame effort to justify what his answer would've been if he'd ever gotten to it.
In other words, Akin was apparently trying to champion the pro-life position -- but proved incapable of articulating it.
Not exactly the kind of spokesman we need on the national stage...
Did you catch Palin on Greta advocating a Steelman third party run if Akin doesn’t withdraw by 8/25?
Palin was on fire - the most animated and convincing I’ve ever seen her.
Do you know the MO law regarding a third party run?
“Steve Deace is sticking up hardcore for Akin on his radio show tonight...... and.........Deace is saying anyone who’s an enemy of Mitch McConnell and Mitt Romney is a friend of his...”
*******************************************************************
I’ve seen this story line before and know the tragic ends to which it can lead. “Anyone who’s an enemy of Mitch McConnell and Mitt Romney is a friend of his..”? Wow, I guess his list of friends includes Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. Just wow!! These three friends of Steve Deace must absolutely love the “divide and conquer” ploys that are ongoing.
As for me, I’ll stay out of the described circle of Deace friends and continue doing my best to support the possibility of having a conservative led, Republican majority in the US Senate come 2013. But thanks (/sarc) for promoting discord in our ranks and the Democrats’ divide and conquer strategy.
Wonder if MO has a sore loser statute which would prevent Steelman or Brunner from going third party.
Well, pro-late term abortion McCaskill is now likely to be reelected because of Akin.
What would you rather have; another Missouri Republican who isn’t as perfectly pro-life as Akin but who will vote to confirm conservative judges, or pro-abortion extremist Claire McCaskill?
This is bigger than one person. We needed that seat. He screwed up and he must pay the price. Right now I see an ego out of control. I know how hard,it is to run for office. I am doing it right now.. But he must put aside his own desires. The party wants Jim gone. He will get no support. This was a winnable seat and he put it in jeopardy. I pray they get a court order and be done with him.
But Akin was not focused on the broad conservative sea-change and fiscal responsibility to dump an agenda headed by a Marxist. Instead, he was focused on single-issue agenda points of the right-to-life groups and did so in a manner that caused good conservvatives, that hate Roe v. Wade and all it stands for, to smack their foreheads, declare epic fail and ask themselves how they can vote for someone this dumbly arrogant.
And he did so on a show which has no pro-life listeners. The guy is tone deaf. And remains so.
We do have a sore loser law.
Romney and the RNC have promoted discord by not accepting Akin's apology and by withdrawing funding from his campaign.
We can't have a "conservative-led" Senate or Republican party if it's led by the likes of McConnell, Boehner and Romney, so your strategy to get there is a non-starter. We can't do anything conservative without speaking out against those who cut the legs out from under conservatives.

Do you have even the slightest clue as to what’s happening in this 2012 election (as a continuation of the 2010 election) at the House and Senate level? There are many of us doing everything in our power to get reinforcements (Mourdock from Indiana, Mandel from Ohio, Cruz from Texas, Deb Fischer from Nebraska, Flake from Arizona, Denny Rehberg from Nebraska and so forth) to the CONSERVATIVE Republicans already in the Senate. The idea being that not only would we have a Republican majority in the Senate but also have sufficient numbers of dedicated conservatives among that Republican majority so that we could have the Republican leadership rearranged so that conservative would be driving the agenda.
Akin’s idiotic self-destruction (aided and abetted by gleeful Democrats) of the viability of his candidacy and the possibility of a new conservative Senator from Missouri has been completely conterproductive of this strategy. The fool did this to himself!!
So Jedi, do yourself a favor and try your best to get at least a small clue. Stop your whining and cursing of the darkness and light a candle. Help us restore the Republic before it is too late. USE YOUR BRAINS (if that is possible).
As for Romney, he will be the lesser of 2 disasters compared to Obama, if he can get elected, which seems unlikely given his tone-deaf decision not to release his tax returns and create an "illegitimate rape"-type of issue for the Democrats to keep harping on and distract the public on. That's why Romney has been 4 points behind Obama in the WSJ/NBC poll consistently. If only people had put up the fight they're putting up against Akin to get Romney replaced, then we might have a chance for a real conservative movement to get something done.
I'll stop cursing and whining about Romney when you stop cursing and whining about Akin and how "his seat is lost," which can only happen if the crooked bunch at the RNC deny him funding. Meanwhile, with all the funding in the world, Romney's losing the White House and you don't seem to care about that. So try and get a clue. Romney's a POS candidate, has little chance of winning, and if he does he will be almost as big a roadblock to the conservative movement as Obama is. I'm voting for him as the lesser of two evils, but at no point will I deny how horrible a lesser evil he is. I'm a believer in speaking the truth.
