US Initial Jobless Claims Edge Up To 366,000, Higher Than Expected

The number of Americans lining up for new jobless benefits rose slightly more than expected last week, the Labor Department said Thursday, suggesting little improvement in the labor market.

In the week ending Aug. 11, applications for unemployment insurance payments rose by 2,000 from the previous week's upwardly revised figure of 364,000 to 366,000. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast claims would climb to 365,000 last week.

The four-week moving average, which normally provides a better indication of the underlying trend in labor markets than the weekly number of jobless claims, decreased by 5,500 to 363,750 for first-time benefit applicants.

The number of people filing for benefits after an initial week of aid increased fell 31,000 to 3.31 million in the week ending Aug. 4. The continuing claims figure does not include the number of Americans receiving extended benefits under federal programs. The four-week moving average for the week ended Aug. 4 fell by 3,000 to 3.31 million.

Week after miserable week there are over 360,000 new jobless claims when the phantom ‘recovery” supposedly began in June ‘09. That is simple horrible.

Add to that, the hundreds of thousands of new college graduates added since June ‘09 as well as the millions of illegal aliens, and only a crazy person or a Labor Dept. bureaucrat would find anything hopeful in these dismal numbers.

Upwardly revised ... upwardly revised ... upwardly revised.

It's like a broken record, but the MSM acts like the music is still playing.

Oh, it was expected that socialism and destroying the needed capital to weather storms, attacking those “hoarding” or prepping for disaster, was going to loosen the economy up and make things better...

But, what was expected did not happen... oh, really!!!!

Socialistic results, what their science of fairness and cowardice and lack of confidence expected but did not deliver...

THis “unexpected” language sounds too familiar of the Soviet propagayda of PRavda every time there was an unexpected bad yearly report.

“Expectations” assume there is a model in place, that has some history of reliability in forecasting results.

After 42 months of failing to come close, it’s time for a new yardstick.

oh...and if you have continued to employee somebody who has used a broken yardstick for 42 months....it’s time for YOU to be replaced!

oh...and if YOU are the guy in charge of obtaining results, and have FAILED FOR 42 MONTHS....

IT IS TIME FOR OBAMA TO BE REPLACED!!!!

THey still do not get it... after all these years, information and technology... you could show the press and a liberal the reality, and they would say you do it as a political maneuvering of enslaving them.

THey are the greediest selfish most insecure dangerous insects out there. THEre is no talking to them, just like a bunch of crack heads.

As they say, stupidity is to repeat something that goes wrong and expecting different results, or to fix something that is not broken... wisdom, tradition and science go hand in hand, but for them, they know it all at birth, and the elderly get impressed foolishly, not spanking the little nuts.

With all thesse “revised” figures, if you add them all up, about 8,000 a week, that’s about 188 weeks for a total of about 1.5 million extra unemployed people they haven’t accounted for.

decreased by 5,500

Or 110 per State unless you use ObamaMath. Then it's 96.49 per state.
